Well...yes. And it seems it does work that way. Between 40 and 45 (varsity D at least) I didn't notice much difference in route running but there must be some tiny difference that pushes it over the...

Matt10 recently updated his sliders to give CPU WR-Catching a 45 rating, up from 40. In my experience and his, this seems to have reduced the amount of insta-throwaways considerably. Give it a try.
