For those pondering the nature of leaving the guy unblocked vs hitting him unaware at full speed...you're talking about an angle correction of a few degrees.

The block in question doesn't happen...

Even if Goodell is trying to protect a "product" that doesn't mean the rules still don't protect the individual players. I don't care if Goodell's goal was to keep the uniforms clean and not...

I didn't say NO contact.

You're overstating a case agianst a ruling that aims to the protect the players. Getting hit blindly by any level of athlete is asking for brain injury or worse.

As far as I understand it. You're not allowed to hit the legs from this "peel back" angle either. It's a ruling on the sight line of the pursuer being able to make a move to protect/prepare himself...

Despite all the hyperbole being slung here, ANY rule that helps protect the players is a good thing. Even if other rules are also needed.
