yeah there is a friends list, I think it holds up to 100 now after the last system update. You can send text messages to each other during games as well with the new system update. There isn't an...

No memberships, you can play online all you want for free. There is a store like the 360 marketplace where you can buy add-ons for games and where you can download free demos, trailers, etc. But...
