Typical trigger anime. They take everything and make it ridiculously over the top. Gurenn Lagann and FLCL were both the same way. But its a love/hate thing.

Im indifferent. I was never a huge fan of DBZ and I didnt like how the DBZ episodes told their stories. As an example, Goku taking like 5 episodes to just cast the Spirit Bomb. The irony is not lost...

There are Mangas for all age groups from 12 - 13 year olds to strictly adults. It all depends what series she is reading.

I always suggest Cowboy Bebop to people newer to anime. Only a season's worth of episodes and its considered one of the best ones (generally). Not as complex as Death note though i'll definitely tell...
