Don't worry about it that's what places like this are for is to talk with people and learn.

To me, rebuilding isn't as much making your team "better" as much as it is finding players that fit...

My general rule of thumb on the draft depends on when they were drafted. This is my rule:

Round 1 Picks 1-5: 7 Year Contract
Round 1 Picks 6 - 16: 6 Year Contract
Round 1 Picks 17-32 & Round 2...
