Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb
Yes.
All three Drew brothers, Tim, JD, and Stephen. Got a couple of guys i grew up playing ball with; that are currently in the minors. Also had a hitting instructor who had a cup of tea in the majors but last i heard did some work down in the minors.PSN: OverPar8 -

Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb
I personally don't know anyone that played but I used to play against a former MLB player in little league that I use to strike out regularly, lol. I personally know guys that made it to the minors and had tryouts with major league clubs though. 2 of them coached me in little league. One that went to my church and his daughter was my best friend had a tryout with the Tigers as a catcher. The other coach I had could have played in the majors as a catcher if it weren't for alcohol and drug abuse, he was really good. My wifes biological father played for the Iowa Cubs.Comment

I used to go hit at a facility run by Rob Butler (won the WS with the Jays in '93), his brother Rich (played for the Jays/Rays), and Nigel Wilson (had some AB's in the bigs but was better known for winning a couple Silver Sluggers in Japan).Blue Jays, Blackhawks, AuburnComment

Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb
Actually my Pop used to be the batboy for the Phills back in the mid to late 40's. Here are couple of pages I scanned from the scrapbook I got.
One pic if from when my Pop played for the House of David, I don't know if any of you know about that team but I believe it was a beard thing where all players wore beards. Another pic is with my Pop with his Phills hat and a few articles of when he used to play when he was in the Air Force. Another one is a clipping out of the news paper of Eddie Waitkus the player the movie "The Natural" was based after, well not based after but when the lady shot Hobbs in the hotel room, they used the story of Waitkus for that part of the movie. Last but not least this one I am kind of proud of, now I know it's not the most HR's in MLB history or the most hits but tjust to have my Pop some what in baseball history makes me proud. Anyway he was the first batboy ever to be tossed out of a MLB game.
I messaged Russell a photo of this and was going to see if maybe I can get my last name into next years game but I really didn't wanna pester him so maybe someone from SCEA will this and maybe put my last name in the game next year so I can recreate my Pop.

Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb
A member of this site and one of my best friends was drafted 3rd pick 3rd round by the White Sox. He got to Double A. He played for the Ceder Rapids Kernels. (shout out to OP) among other teams. He ended up getting traded to the Angels, and finished up with the Arkansas Travelers.
He played with a lot of big leaguers and has some stories to tell to say the least.
Oh and I almost forgot. I know former D-Backs, Angels, and Indians pitcher Brian Anderson. My cousin and him are good friends. I got to play catch with him at my cousins house shortly after he was drafted by the Angels.Last edited by PVarck31; 02-22-2011, 01:24 AM.Comment

Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb
Yea, I knew a few.
Jeff Manto (Did a bunch of training sessions with him)
3 of my HS baseball coaches were drafted, (All were on the same HS team when they were in HS too), none of them made it to the MLB, though. One of them always had crazy stories about Willie Stargell, about how he would hit a line drive over the 2nd basemen's glove and the backspin carried it to the upper deck..
Not an MLB player, but Ruben Amaro Jr lives close to me, and one of my friends babysat his kidsEagles | Phillies | Sixers | Flyers

Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb
I actually know more than I realized once I started thinking about this question. My brother played HS ball with Chad Tracy and he's a close family friend (played 3B for Arizona for 6 years, then with the Cubs last year for a bit.. playing in Japan now). Ty Wiggington played at the university where I played, so I've met him a few times at alumni events. I played against Daniel Bard and Andrew Miller in high school in Charlotte and knew them both a little from constantly playing against them in fall, summer, and school leagues. I played on an AAU team with Bobby Parnell (relief pitcher for the Mets) when I was 14 or 15. Played against Kevin Slowey (starter for the Twins) in college and got to know him a little in talking to him before games.
Also played against Buster Posey and Matt LaPorta in college (struck them both out, my claim to fame), but I don't know them personally at all, and have played with a bunch of guys who are currently in the minors, but I doubt any of those guys are going to make it to the BigsLast edited by Jr.; 02-22-2011, 01:43 AM.Comment

Re: do you know any one who plays or who has played in the mlb
Yes. Went to high school with and shared a locker next to Josh Donaldson, catcher for the Oakland A's. Also, went to high school with PJ Walters who is a pitcher for the Cardinals. He's bounced back and forth between the minors and the MLB club. While I don't know him personally, I played little league ball at the same park and same time as Jake Peavy.Last edited by Bamafan3723; 02-22-2011, 01:59 AM."The best thing about being a football player at Alabama...winning...winning." -Mark Barron
