Why can't they have a slider where DE(s) can collapse the pocket at an increase rate?
the line is simply not moving at the same pace the qb receives the ball. a wall qb should be around the qb once he receives the ball. this would solve users dropping 20 yards and then throwing or running.Tags: None -

They do have a pass rush slider. Unless you want the OL to circle the wagons or maybe put the QB at the middle of a phalanx? You could use the ol' Spartacus-Weak 2TE formation
SpoilerSeriously, I don't know what you mean. The QB should always be able to move backward -
Re: Why can't they have a slider where DE(s) can collapse the pocket at an increase r
What needs to happen is that once the QB drops back so far that the offensive tackle is no longer between the DE and the QB, the DE needs to disengage and make a b-line straight to the QB.
In the videos, the DEs just keep fighting with the offensive lineman when they don't have to.Comment

Re: Why can't they have a slider where DE(s) can collapse the pocket at an increase r
I disagree. I think the DE having the football intelligence to know his goal is to get as close to the QB's space as possible, and then being able to recognize he now has a positional advantage over the OT because the QB's drop was too far, and then acting on the situation like a football player is much more sim.Comment

there's no way a qb can get 20 yards with a wall around him..................Comment

I think it should be a mini game like in god of war 3. When the DE gets close to the QB, you should have to hit a combination of button prompts. If you hit them correctly and on time, you'll get closer to the QB. if you miss them, you'll get pushed further back.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Re: Why can't they have a slider where DE(s) can collapse the pocket at an increase r
That is a pretty interesting concept you have there. Actually make it a "fight" in the trenches. If you control a DT or a DE, you are in a mini-game for leverage, shedding the blocker and penetrating. I think this is what they tried to accomplish with the rip, swim, and shove moves, but rarely did it work in actual use. Even if you beat the block with one of those moves, the animation generally sent you well out of position to get to the QB and by the time you recovered, the QB either tossed the ball or you were vacuumed into another OL.Comment

everytime the user drops 20 yards the wall collapses instantly..... that would cure this problem IMOComment

But it should be ratings based. If you have a very good DE, it should be easier to raise the bar, but if you're going against a good LT, it should add some difficulty. If you press B at the time it gets to the marker, they'll preform a pass rush move and get through. If your perform it too soon, you get pancaked.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

Test Your Might actually works, because it's a strength-based minigame, just like trench wars in football.Comment

I think they could do it with a vertical meter for forward backward and a horizontal meter for lateral block shedding. Instead of using the sticks you could tap the "x" button rapidly to get upfield or the "o" button to get around... Once your meter reached the bar, you'd be sprungComment

Re: Why can't they have a slider where DE(s) can collapse the pocket at an increase r
You don't need a meter on screen if you're going to make block shedding based on button-mashing.
Tecmo Super Bowl did fine without one. The better players in that game required less "mashing" to get free from a block, whereas scrub players really had to mash hard to break free.Comment
