I said during the Prelude on the impressions thread that the new smooth driving animations etc seemed fishy but without the benefit of instant replay I didn't know what was causing it and I started to enjoy it.

Today I found this game breaking reason why. I'm seriously struggling to carry on playing. I know it sounds dramatic, but how can I drive to the basket and feel good about my moves? Knowing that i didny do really well to get past, but in fact just morphed through?

These are clips from one game but trust me, go to your own game and get past someone and watch the replay. Every. Time.

i only drive to the basket with elite slashers like wb, durant, curry, superstars etc. you've gotta discipline yourself when players like craig ehlo can get past anyone whenever they want by simple running into them.

really wish 2k would have worked to find a middle ground there instead of just throwing together an easy solution and then spending the rest of their time on microtransactions and neighborhood gimmicks. *sigh* i'm enjoying the game regardless.

These are just random inconsequential videos of clipping...its ugly, yes.but it doesn't really show us how 'game breaking' the driving is supposed to be...

We didn't even get to see how these possesions ended..

The possessions ended successfully, the drives worked. My problem is HOW they work.

Game breaking was dramatic as I'm really enjoying the game but it's disappointing to know that the only reason you get past people easily is because you clip through them. Probably could have provided better clips. I might hop on the Xbox and update them

You don't see that the only reason you're getting past people is because you're morphing through them? How does that not affect the play? It cheapens everything because you're not even going around people you're going through them

It’s not pretty, but it is still considerably better than in the past. I would rather arms go through each other and have a realistic outcome than the defender slide back into place in front and stonewall the ballhandler.

They just need to add more body movement to react to other body parts. If they just made everything tangible but left everything else the same, every play would result in a foul. We would just see a bunch of headbutts and clotheslines based on those clips.

I agree that it feels better in the moment when you're driving and the outcome is better, it just seems like a bit of a cruddy fix for the problem from previous years

I think they just need more time. They said they implemented a new movement system this year, so I’m willing to give it time to get better as long as they keep improving on it.

When the ball goes through a player and if affects the outcome of the play, that’s when I get upset. But to see a limb clip here and there doesn’t bother me, because I know it’s virtually impossible to eliminate all clipping.

Basically this.

You're equating those inconsequential clips of the head to your drives success, when they don't have anything to do with one another.

If you go back and play 2K17, where it was much, much harder to get past your man...you will see the same thing if you go into replay....the kind of clipping you are showing has been going on, it's not really a new discovery.

That said, there is definitely an uptick in clipping in 2K18 due to the new animation system, and there are real examples where clipping has actually caused an unrealistic outcome...but I wouldn't say any of these clips are examples of that.
