It’s time for that magical part of the year as we find out what teams have earned the right to play in the Postseason and represent their Universities and Conferences in the prestigious New Year’s 6 Bowls. This years group has newcomers, old powerhouses and a couple military programs so without further ado let’s breakdown the field of 12 teams. Let’s start it off right with our first matchup...

The Cotton Bowl
Where the #9 ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets come in at 11-2 after falling in two of their last three games. The Yellow Jackets will look to rebound and finish on a high note. But it won’t be easy as the play The #6 ranked Air Force Academy Falcons who finished 11-1 just outside the Top 4 because of their only loss being at a 7-5 Hawaii team. This Cotton Bowl is sure to be a good one.
Alright now we will shift our focus a back East and check out the

Chic-Fil-A Peach Bowl
The Peach Bowl matches up the ACC vs the SEC and this year we have got a great matchup in store as the the ACC Champions #7 Florida State Seminoles roll in to town after a 11-2 season where the stumbled vs Miami and Syracuse but rebounded to win the ACC. The Noles opponent is the SEC West runner up Arkansas Razorbacks who finished the year at 10-2 and just missed the SEC Championship game following a disappointing 27-24 loss to rival LSU to close the year. We should see a highly contested game in Atlanta.

Allstate Sugar Bowl
In the Sugar Bowl the Big 12 sends its 3rd best team in Big 12 South Runner up #12 Oklahoma State Cowboys who enter with a 9-3 mark on the season after losses to Virginia Tech, Texas and rival Oklahoma the Cowboys will look to finish the season strong as they take on the U.S. Naval Academy. The Navy Midshipmen enter as #5 team in the Nation with a 11-2 mark on the season. After struggling early to a 2-2 mark the Midshipmen hit their stride and claimed a American Conference championship to fin themselves in the Sugar Bowl.
Wow another really good matchup. Let’s keep it goin as we continue heading west with our last matchup before we reveal our playoff teams. In our last non playoff game we go to

The Tostitos Fiesta Bowl
The Fiesta Bowl matches up the Big 10 and Pac 12 as the Rose Bowl is a Semifinal. In this years Fiesta Bowl the Pac 12 Champion #21 USC Trojans come in with a 8-5 mark as they struggled on the year but managed to win the conference. The Trojans opponents are the #16 Northwestern Wildcats who finished second in Big 10 West but were the best non playoff team left. USC and Northwestern is a rematch of a earlier game that USC won 32-23 but it was the most appealing matchup available.
So a rematch there hopefully it’ll be as good as the first matchup between those two. Now we shift our focus to the 4 team playoff. Let’s keep going and reveal our First Semifinal of the afternoon. In our 2 vs 3 matchup we head to Pasadena, California for

The Granddaddy of em all, The Rose Bowl
Where the #3 ranked 12-1 Nebraska Cornhuskers roll into town on a 12 game win streak following a 31-24 loss to Oklahoma on Opening weekend the Huskers rolled thru the competition and won the Big 10 Title. The Cornhuskers opponent in the Rose Bowl is the 11-2 #2 ranked Texas Longhorns who won the Big 12 Title. After suffering losses to Kansas State and TCU in the regular season the Horns got a rematch with K-State and avenged that loss to claim their spot in the Playoff.

Discover Orange Bowl
In the Orange Bowl #4 12-1 Kansas State will look to rebound from a 38-21 loss to Texas in the Big 12 Title. Kansas State was ranked #1 for most of the year and must take on SEC Power #1 Auburn Tigers who enter at 12-1 whose only loss came in Week 11 at the hands of Arkansas 27-13.
