Player attributes by position

Hi, I'm in my 7th season with Mizzou. This is my 11th overall season and I just had my first player go pro. He was a 3 star point guard who I found through his high passer stats. I now attract 4 and 5 star recruits regularly and have noticed that some players have to play for a long while and get lots of training before they get pro buzz, while others have the "right" position grades and get pro buzz right away even though they are riding the pine for me due to some overtly noticeable flaw in their game.

Does anyone know how the computer determines what makes a player "special"? I can't figure out why it took 4 years for my starting point guard (3 star) to get buzz when my sophmore point guard (5 star) whom I had to redshirt because he was so erratic gets buzz coming off the bench and hasn't played nearly as much. The same thing is happening with my centers (3 star plays like a beast but gets no buzz, 4 star is "Lottery" coming off bench, both are sophomores).

Perhaps I can use this information to focus my training efforts for the maximum "buzz".

Re: Player attributes by position

It depends on the current crop of players on a particular position and relative to that, how your player is ranked

example:
one year: you have a 3* C however during that year, the NCAA has a lot of 4* and 5* C, so your 3* C might not create a lot of buzz, as relative to the current crop of C, he is ranked quite low

however the next year, assuming all those 4* and 5* C have gone pro or graduated and that year, the best Centers are mostly 3*,
your 3* C(assuming he has not graduated yet) would likely create a buzz if he ranks high relative to the current crop of Centers

Re: Player attributes by position

Its funny too, because I only have NBA 2K8 just to see if my players can get drafted. The funny thing is... I am at East Tennessee State. I have completed one year with the new rosters. My PG was conference POY and my SG was a Godly scorer who actually put up 80 pts in a triple-OT win over Alabama that was in the 130-point range as a team. Both were 'undrafted' the whole year as seniors. Well, the 80-point man was injured in the conference tourny, so he couldnt play in the NCAA tourny. My PG stepped up big and scored mad points and still had his assists and steals. After i lost in the 2nd round, my PG was a '2nd round' and my SG was 'Dark Horse' even though he didnt play, he still moved up. In the end, i imported them and both were picked 2nd round (PG was 7th in the round and SG was 2nd-last) it was amazing. 1st year and 2 draft picks. Now, i reruited a Juco FR that is now a sophmore on my team, who is undrafted, but I bet by the end of his senior year, he could be a draft pick

the game is just weird like that
