Questions from a noobie

I haven't played the EA series since NHL 05 for the PC. Now, naturally the game has changed pretty drastically since the last time I saw it.
Can anyone give me tips on scoring which I can't seem to do no matter what? Is there some trick to scoring and playing offense? It's really bad, I can't maintain possession long enough to set up a shot.
Should I just mess with sliders?

Re: Questions from a noobie

You have to move the puck in the zone and get the goalie out of position.

The worst thing to do is constantly go down the wing and pass to the middle for a one timer every time. Dump the puck, play from behind the net, take shots from the point.

Also, very important, learn to shoot low sometimes. That gives you the best rebound opportunity.

Goalie short-side on a wide angle works a lot. So do high stick side in the slot.

Go into practice mode and do a 1-0 rush and practice. Then, add another player then another defender, etc.

There is no shame at starting with the easiest difficultly level and working your way up.

Re: Questions from a noobie

I find 1 timers are effective if you can be quick by quick passes.

Re: Questions from a noobie

Hey again, guys.
So, I'm definitely playing better defense but I feel like I'll get into the CPU zone and I shoot wristers or slap shots from a distance that don't go in. I've been shutout twice in a row. The games are fine I just can't score.
Also, when I try to break through the D, they either rip the puck away from me or I lose the puck. Not sure what to do. Going towards the net is useless.
Any more ideas? I'm using PRO with some sliders I found here.

Re: Questions from a noobie

try dumping it in or passing it as soon as you cross the blue line.
