Icon2 Minnesota Vikings (6-0) at Pittsburgh Steelers (4-2)

I'm back with this weeks game thread.

Last week the Ravens scared me and the game ended up being far too close for comfort. We probably should be 5-1 but I'll take it.

The Steelers are going to be a tougher match-up than the Ravens were so we gotta bring it this game.

Go Favre go.

The old man will pull another one out. Vikings are not going to lose before their bye week.

I like the Steelers in this one. Troy P is back. The Steelers are at home. It'll be a close game, but I see the Steelers giving the Vikings their first loss.

It'll be a much different game than last week. Lebeau is not going to 1) constantly play his CB's 8 to 10 yards off giving up the slant; 2) LeBeau is not a college Coordinator still trying to figure out the NFL game. So I expect the Steelers defense to perform much better than the Ravens did. Whether they will win the game I'm not so sure.

This is going to be a great game and as much as I want the Steelers to lose, I think they end Minnesota's win streak. I think Favre will throw a couple picks in this game, and Pitt's D contains Peterson for the most part.

I think it will be a shootout, the way Ben is playing this year and the way the Vikings secondary is covering.

Favre and Ben will go at it and the vikings will stop the Steelers on the last drive thanks to Jared Allen.

Final Score

41-38 Vikings

Go old man go.

It sucks being a Packers fan, but seeing as how I would have Favre's baby... I'm glad to see him playing at this high of a level. Still.

This one is going to the Vikes. Simply put, the loss of Aaron Smith is devastating to the Steelers defense, as much as when they were missing Polumalu. Smith is a major cog to the d-line and creates double teams that allow the LBs to swarm and make plays. I can't remember the stats Marc Schlerneth(sp) stated when Smith went down but I believe the Steelers give up ON AVERAGE an additional 40+ yards rushing per game without Smith in the lineup. That's an additional 4 first downs if you think about it which is extra time on the field for a defense. Couple that with Adrian Peterson and a well balanced Vikings offense coming into town and this could be a long day.
