Bob's Realistic Madden 11 Roster/Franchise PS3

So yet again I decided to make a new thread. That's right I also decided to do a franchise. This will be my only release of it, I don't plan on trying to keep up week by week, because neither my franchise file nor the roster is based on are designed for that. What they are designed for is to give you the ability to play your own hypothetical franchise, starting at Week 1. This has taken a lot of work to accomplish, and now I am finally going to be able to sit back and FINALLY PLAY THE GAME!!!!!!!! anyways, I hope that you all enjoy my work, I just wanted to take a moment to tell every one of the guys who have helped me along the way. Stealthshot's lists were invaluable and if it wasn't for Daniverson I never would have even attempted something like this. OS Community, these files are for you!!

Explanation

The goal in making this is to give a realistic franchise experience in Madden 11. Players who are on IR this year or suspended for part of the year are treated as such. The way I do it is to set them as Punters or Kickers to get them off the Depth Chart altogether. I use the rotoworld injury list as a basis for the changes that I made. The nice thing is after a year of franchise mode you can reassign the inactive players back to the position that they can play, and you can have them for the 2011 season. I also added some undrafted rookies who were not included, and a few missing Free agents, and even some retirees who you can sign if you want. Retired players are set to Kickers in the free agency pool, guys on IR or suspension are Punters.

So to summarize

Injured=bottom of the Depth Chart
PUP List or Suspension=Set as Punter
IR=Released and a set as FA Punter

This roster is meant for franchise use and will only cover changes up too before the Week 1 Kickoff on Sunday September 12, 2010 (I know the first game was on the 9th). This will let whoever uses my roster simulate their own 2010 season right from week 1 (So Ryan Grant's ankle is fine and Kevin Kolb doesn't have a concussion). Now to cover some of my CAP Additions.

Retirees: I have added a few retired players set as kickers so the CPU won't sign them. Most of them are QBs. I will include who I added and why.

#1 Jeff George: I like Jeff George because I remember the year he gave us in 99 in Minnesota. He's had his ups and downs but he still wants to play football and from some accounts still can. Unlike the other retirees Jeff George is in the FA Pool at QB, as far as I know he never filed his papers with the NFL and has been trying to get a tryout since 2007 or so. My CAP of George could be considered somewhat optimistic, but it is created under the assumption that George can still launch a football into orbit if he wants to. That being said, the guy is 42 so he has no mobility (Brett Favre looks like Usain Bolt compared to Jeff George, ankle and all) and I have made him a little fragile since he has 300 some sacks against him and is 42. George played his last game in 2002 though, so he has had 8 years to heal and is not at all banged up.

#2 Gus Frerotte: Yeah another Vikings QB, Frerotte is old (39) and will probably never play again. The reason he is included in this list is 1) He really dug deep in the 2008 season to help get Minnesota to the playoffs before he was injured and benched thereafter. The reason Gus is here is because in the 09 off season, he expressed interest in wanting to compete against Tarvaris Jackson for the starting QB spot for the Vikings. This was not to be as the Vikes made a trade for Sage Rosenfels and released Frerotte soon after only to sign Brett Favre (who is even older than Frerotte) before the season started. Also to the best of my knowledge Frerotte has not filed his retirement papers with the NFL yet.

#3 Trent Green: Yeah the you probably have to do a double take on that. Trent Green play football again? Unlike the last two fossilized QBs, Trent Green filed his papers after the 09 season. However Mike Martz was after him this off-season to come back and back up Jake Cutler in Chicago (the job Todd Collins is doing now) which Green refused several times. I know the guy is very fragile but if the right things happened I could see him playing football again (or at least wearing a ballcap and holding a clipboard). One big knock against Trent Green though is the fact that the guy may as well be made out of glass. Trying to use him to make a play action pass behind a shaky offensive line is not for the faint of heart. One good hit and he will crack like an egg.

#4 Kurt Warner: Certainly the most capable out of all of these guys, Kurt Warner has said many times that he will not go back the the NFL and will never play pro football again. However, Brett Favre said the same thing. Also, despite all that Warner has said, the other night he was saying on Twitter that he misses throwing passes to Anquan Boldin. Again, the right things happen, Kurt suits up again, everyone knows that he sure can still play. I have dropped his ratings a bit though to reflect his inactive off season.

#5 Mushin Muhammad: Again, the guy can still play, he retired because at the time no-one was interested in him as a free agent. Now with training camp over and injuries starting to pile up, there could certainly be some interest.

BONUS Scott Frost: Yeah Yeah I know this is supposed to be a realistic franchise roster but, I figure if EA can add Robert You and Shagg Makino I have to be entitled to something. Scott Frost was the QB of the Nebraska Corn Huskers in 1997. Think Tim Tebow, loose the South Paw, and maybe a little bit of arm strength and accuracy and you get the idea. Thing is, unlike Tebow, our boy Scott was drafted in the mid rounds by the Jets when they were coached by Bill Parcels. Back then nobody wanted to take a chance on trying to turn a rushing option QB into a pro, so Frost converted over to strong safety. After a lackluster 6 year career in the NFL (most of it being spent on special teams and the bench) Frost got into coaching and is currently the WRs Coach at Oregon. You guys might recognize him as the big dude who manhandled LeGarrette Blount back to the locker room after he had his flipout. For hypothetical purposes, this Scott Frost CAP is as of the 1998 NFL Draft (assume he is the same age as Tebow and went undrafted). You can try to make him into a QB after using him as a backup for a few years, switch him over to Strong Safety or even try him as a HB/FB. Installation

To get the roster imported its best to use a USB flash drive. Download the file on your PC, unrar it (you need winrar) { http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm } then put the PS3 folder on the flash drive. Plug the flash drive into the PS3 and then use the Saved Data Utility (PS3) to access the flash drive. Copy the roster file off the flash drive and then start madden 11, then load the roster.

(these are the guys I have set to Punters, leave them there all season but, if you want to keep any for next year MAKE SURE you get them into the free agency pool right before the Superbowl. What you do is sign each one as a Punter ($350k+0bonus 1 year) then edit them to their position that is listed here and then release them. You won't get a roster penalty since there was no guaranteed money and this will get them back in to the free agency pool at their actual OVR rating for their positoin. Madden cleans out the FA pool from year to year in franchise starting with the lowest OVRs so if you want to keep these guys for the next year in franchise follow the previously mentioned steps)

Weatherman, did you have to quote the entire post? Anyways, no, the suspended players need to be added back in manually. There is no way to do it automatically week by week, I think you may have misunderstood what dan said on that. Dan said that this time he wants to do week by week updates on his file, so every week when he does a new one the suspended players will be added back in.
