I want to get a realistic game, but at the same time not feel cheap. basically i want it to play as close to a real nba game as i can get.

I use a combination of sim and default. I leave everything on default except the contact shots, dunks in traffic, drive contact, inside contact, and fouls (which are all on sim settings).

Check the Sliders section of the forum, many people have put a lot of work into making them as good as possible.
