Re: Down the Field: The Syracuse Orange Thread

I think 8-4 or 9-3 is a realistic guess for how SU will do this season.

Re: Down the Field: The Syracuse Orange Thread

The team exceeded my expectations last year. I had them going 6-6 on the 2010 campaign but as we know they finished 8-5 and as the champions of the inaugural New Era Pinstripe Bowl. I think we take a step back this year due to the many seniors that depart (notably Ryan Bartholomew, Doug Hogue, Derrell Smith and Delone Carter). The team's success next year will be dependent on Ryan Nassib improving as a QB. I think he's awful and needs a lot of work. He held back the offense last season and put the pressure on our defense way too much. Hopefully there is an open competition during the spring to light a fire under him.

Looking at the schedule, we can go 4-1 right before conference play begins. I think we go 3-4 or 4-3 in conference. The conference will be just like how it was last year; everyone is going to beat up on each other.

My official 2011 prediction:
7-5

TBA at Connecticut

That means 2012 - Return of Coach P and DeLeone to the Dome. That is a MUST win game

I am hoping for 9 wins this coming year

Re: Down the Field: The Syracuse Orange Thread

All 27 commitments according to SUathletics.com
Quote:
The offensive group includes quarterbacks Ashton Broyld and Terrel Hunt, wide receivers Kyle Foster, Keenan Hale and Jeremiah Kobena, running backs Adonis Ameen-Moore, Brandon Reddish and Tyree Smallwood, tight end Louis Addazio, and offensive linemen Lou Alexander, Kristofer Curtis, Nick Robinson, Rob Trudo and Ivan Foy. The defensive group includes defensive lineman Eric Crume, Donnie Simmons and Ryan Sloan, linebackers Cameron Lynch and Oliver Vigille, and defensive backs Dyshawn Davis, Ritchy Desir, Siriki Diabate, Durrell Eskridge, Jaston George and Shutang Mungwa. The specialists are punter Jonathan Fisher and long snapper Sam Rodgers.
Although we don't have any 4/5 star recruits, I'm optimistic about this group. I think that our coaching staff, especially Scott Shafer, can maximize each recruit's potential.
