Does the AI ever take bad shots?

Was playing the game and I began to notice that the AI almost NEVER takes ill advised shots. My favorite player Kobe is known for doing this and I don't feel like the CPU ever properly simulates this.

The AI will put the ball in the right players hands but I'm thinking to myself where's the hero ball at lol! It's like I gotta be in my toes for everything no matter how bad the team is.

Would be interesting to see the CPU try to force 3's or charge the basket like a user does. Would to me go a long way in making them play a bit more realistic.

Would make things different playing against the more disciplined teams like lets say the Celtics.

Just something that has been running thru my mind thee past few days wanted to get you guys opinion.

I think the cpu takes bad shots almost every possession. The fact that they make them against the shot clock on so many occasions is another matter, but they're still bad shots.

What I would like to see is more reckless or quick shots - which might be what you're referring to. Instead of holding the ball for the entire clock every time, how about a pull up three every now and then, or a quick dump-down and score, or anything that doesn't feel so mechanical?

Re: Does the AI ever take bad shots?

I said I wasnt going get 2k12 but when launch day came I got it anyway. At first I loved it but as time went on I went from loving it to having mixed feelings. I dont know what it is but I dont enjoy playing a full game like i use too. In 2k11 I would play atleast 25 games a season but 2k12 I have maybe played a total of 25 games in 4 seasons.

I dont know why I dont like the game. I have adjust to cpu for the most part and actually have been playing better D but when I am playing I know that i am going to go in a long slump and the cpu is going cut a 25 pt lead to 8 pts in few mins. I think the start of the nba season and a patch can change everyone minds about 2k12. I remember I had given up hope with 2k11 before the patch then the patch came and it felt like I was playing a new game. I couldnt get enough of it. I was playing like 3 or 4 games a day with 10 min qts. I think maybe we set the bar too high expecting 2k to blow us away again.

Overall I do enjoy 2k12 but I feel like I could have missed on this years version and still would have been happy.

I don't think they can implement this because people will complain even more about player tendencies.

That's basically what I was trying to say lol!

I don't see a lot of that going on in this game, but then I don't see it too much in any bball game.

I see the cpu pass up a lot of opportunities to shoot early in the clock. I'm always like, "Why didn't they take that shot?". It can't be that hard to tweak the logic so that they take those chances when they're presented.

Re: Does the AI ever take bad shots?

It totally depends on the difficulty. I stopped playing HOF and in All-Star the warriors take a lot of shots and not all of them are good. Its nice because the teams are actually different outside HOF. The Hawks posted Joe Johnson a lot whereas the Warriors just attacked the basket a lot. In HOF, they just keep dribbling and dribbling until their data tells them its a perfect shot and it goes in and it frustrates.

I split my time between Pro and All-Star, so it can't be the difficulty level.
