2k..There's NOTHING wrong with the Offensive Rebounding...

im sure i'll get flamed for this tread but im just speaking off my opinion and experience playin this game. ill admit i was one of those who initially complained about the off rebs...til i gave the game more time and found out what the game expects you top do in order to control the boards. i feel theres nothing wrong with the rebounding, its just ppl rely way too much on the cpu teammates to do the work for them. now i understand youre say "well if my guy has a 90+ reb rating why should i have to control him to take advantage of that." well, simply put, youre suppose to play the game, not the cpu. i notice 2k gave us what we've been screaming for for yrs, more user control, ex. better rebounding and better fastbreaks. they've done this but we must know how to use it.

ive just completed 20+ straight games on all star level sim default sliders. and ive managed to keep the cpu team in check with their offensive rebs, around avergaing 9 a game! how?... i simply control the best rebounder on my team when i'm expecting the cpu team to shoot and position him to where he can box out and get the the reb or box out to give my teammate a chance to grab the board. when ever you switch up the to the rebounder, quick defensive assign your perimeter players to pressure outside players, with or without the ball. this often forces tough shoots and sometimes takes the big man out to the perimeter to set screens to help get the guards open looks, thus, taking themselves out of position to getting the rebound.

i would hate to see 2k alter the game too much with a patch because players arent accustom to working on their games and are being force to rethink their strategies. try what ive suggested & tell me what you think.

another side note, learn to challenge shots by putting your hands up as oppose to always jumping to block the shot. this helps keeping you on the floor in postion for the rebound. and you'd be surprise of the success rate of missed shots youll get...

I suggest setting up an Association and simming through a couple of seasons and then trying to play a game.

For me, the CPU offensive rebounding became really bad in year 2/3 of Association, which is why I'm looking forward to the patch.

Dude are you kidding me. I just started an association and I am 0-3 with the Boston Celtics on Superstar difficulty, because the horrible rebounding. Dude my last game against the Wizards was another loss and guess who had the most rebounds R.Rondo. Yeah my point guard. And Garnett is avg like 4.7 rebounds a game and I play 10 min quarters. The rebounding sucks end of discussion.

Not going to flame you because of your opinion.

IMO the Offensive Rebounding is overpowered. Regardless of who I am controlling, I "play" the game and box out the man I am actively guarding. The offense has an uncanny ability to leap higher than anyone of my guys, slip off box outs, or tip the ball around until they end up with possession. I realize that these things happen a few times a game in real life, but not every other trip down the floor.

I'm also on All-Star.

Theirs definitely a problem with offensive rebounding when you have so much morphing in the game.

Re: 2k..There's NOTHING wrong with the Offensive Rebounding...

Offensive rebounding is an issue in NBA2K13 pre-patch, just like it was an issue in 2K11 pre-patch. Not completely broken but very frustrating at times.

The main issue with trying to box out manually, seems to be LT not triggering the box out animation consistently, when the user is trying to manually box out.

Often, I hold LT and the player I'm trying to box out slides around me to grab the rebound.

The same issue was in 2K11 and after the patch, rebounding in general was much much better. Post-patch in 2k11 you could actually put a body on a player and box out on command with little to no issues.

I'm confident the Devs can tweak 2k13 the same way.

Re: 2k..There's NOTHING wrong with the Offensive Rebounding...

OP, I agree with you bro for the most part, there is a tad bit wrong with Offensive Rebounding though and it has nothing to do with the way its implemented imo, but more due to the ratings (default by 2k).

Go look at the ratings for rebounding and you'll see why we have a Oreb'ing problem. On average the Off Reb. ratings are ~10-15 points higher than the avg def reb rating.

So most players have 80-85+ orebs while having ~70 drebs. Only big name players have high Drebs, I don't know if they did this to try and separate better rebounders, but all I've seen from it is lackadaisical dreb'ing.

Sad thing is that there needs to be rating separation in-order to get players like Klove to get 20 rebs a game. But with rating separation comes low rated players who react terribly. Needs to be someway to keep ratings spread while keeping rebounding awareness up. Or atleast give us better boxing out/scrumming animations so it looks better.

Also for you guys offline, the CPU does not play to the ratings that are shown in the roster menu. They are bumped down (Pro 2 points) and up on all other difficulties. On HOF they get 10-12 points in just about every attribute. So 80 rebounders are now 90-95. All Star is a 5 point boost, SS 7-8 point boost.

List of boosted attributes by CPU (offline) per; http://www.operationsports.com/forum...fficients.html

Re: 2k..There's NOTHING wrong with the Offensive Rebounding...

Good post, you said your experience, I hope you didn't just get the game.

I played over 25 games with default/sim sliders and when every team has 10+ Off rebounds (some 20+) there is a problem.

Not to mention 2K has already acknowledged CPU Off rebounds is a problem and has been doing slight gameplay modification with rosters updates.
