Why do features get removed from past games of Madden? Can current gen not handle?

Say vision code, weapons, NFL Films music, mini games, pro tak, foot planting. Are there limits? Is that why things are removed? Or is it just EA being lazy removing things?

I can think of a few reasons.

Madden needs to be a perpetual game. It comes out every year. New things have to be done to the game every year. New code is rewritten and some things are not put back in. Happens for two reasons, time constraints on the new code and business model. You can only do so much in a year and can't add everything back. This lets EA/Tib continually reintroduce old features as new and keeps everyone waiting for "next year". Seen it happen for 20+ years now.

yea I think it has to do with time constraints as well the ps3 and 360 have more power memory etc then the ps2 and xbox.... yet we lost a lot of features from those versions on the ps3 and 360.


so since they say they been working on the ps4 and xbox1 versions for 2 yr's now and they are suppose be the better systems then there's no excuse for them not bring back all old features if not then we all know ea has been lying all these yrs.

Vision cone was widely panned, for a variety of reasons (that will go unmentioned because they may derail the thread).

Weapons were a gimmick.

NFL Films music appears to have just been a design decision. EA wanted to create their own network-style music and have that integrated into the game.

Mini games were fun. No idea why they disappeared.

Pro Tak was removed to go to "consecutive impact tackles" in Madden 12. Supposed to counter the random scrum of players that Pro Tak introduced.

Has foot planting ever really been in Madden?
