Hearthstone

Anyone playing the beta of Hearthstone?

For those who don't know, its a collectible card game made by Blizzard which uses elements of World of Warcraft.

Re: Hearthstone

yup, I got in on the wave on the 24th of Oct. so far so good, I just feel like I am at a disadvantage because everyone else clearly has some sweet cards and I do not... and I am not willing to purchase packs.
I am ok losing 4 out of every 5 matches (I am terrible!)
still pretty fun.

Re: Hearthstone

Ive seen streams of it and it looks cool. It has a very Magic the Gathering feel to it and I wasted too much money on that game to get into this one.

If I had extra cash to spend I'd totally get into this one (or back into MTG). At this stage though I can't get down with pay to win model games. But this game looks very fun.

There's an interesting twist to the game that involves the arena. You can either pay with real money to get in or use gold you get from the dailies (ie: cast 40 spells). Within the arena, you get 3 champions to pick from and then draft accordingly. You're not dealing with Joe who spent $400 to get all the rare and epics, that's for the custom/ranked deck mode

I haven't spent any money and its been fun, I haven't felt like I'm screwed over because of my choice not to spend money.

Re: Hearthstone

I really suck at arena... but I feel like with all of the basic mage cards and the deck I have built my win % goes up to around 50... once again not bad for 2 weeks of work and no $ spent.

I use this list for common cards in arena http://ihearthu.com/trumps-arena-card-rankings/

I'm terrible at arena also but I'll just blame the inexperience

Also, http://www.hearthhead.com/ has deck lists

Re: Hearthstone

I got into the beta two weeks ago and haven't been able to stop playing. I have custom decks for each hero, and I'm now working on leveling each hero to 20. My favorite heroes are the rogue, the druid and the shaman.

For those concerned about the microtransaction-based nature of the game, don't be. Everything you can pay for in the game you can also purchase with in-game gold, which is earned by winning games and completing challenges. So really you there's nothing that absolutely requires actual money.
