Tested Sliders (using Cpu vs Cpu)

Hey all I have been working on a slider set to start my career with. What I did was start with other users slider sets and built from there. I tested these by going to coach now, selecting random teams for a total of 16 games to include all 32 teams. To start the game I didn't select any gameplans and switched the coaches clipboard to everything delegated and nothing decided by the user. After the game was over I jotted down the stats on a spreadsheet that I used for slider tests in other games such as Madden and APF. The results are attached in an excel spreadsheet. The final version is version 8 but you'll see other versions that were tested as well. Here are the settings I concluded best from the tests.

Code:
Version number	V8
QBA 25
PB 40
Catch 100
RB 65
RBA 65
Def Awareness	25
Def Knockdowns	40
Interception	30
Break Block 40
Tackle 75
KP 50
KA 40
PP 100
PA 100
KOP 24, 50

Quarter length	15 minutes

Penalties
Offside 100
False Start 100
Holding 50
Facemask 40
Offensive PI	100
Defensive PI	60
K/P Interfere	100
Clipping 50
I Grounding 100
Rough Pass 100
Rough Kick 100
These sliders resulted in relatively realistic games, such as a 13-0 shutout by the Ravens vs the Packers or a high scoring shootout in which Minnesota beat Atlanta 48-35. One thing I did notice is that once I started making weather a factor (about 2/3 of the way in) the games were lower scoring. Compared vs the nfl 2008 season this is what you get. Sorry for the improper alignment I don't know how to easily correct the formatting. The left side is the nfl averages for the 2008 season and right side is the result of the 16 games simulated in head coach.

Interceptions are too high at 30, therefore for my Career I am going to set them to 0, but that will be untested. If you notice for Kickoff power I increased that to 50 about two thirds of the way through. The reason so is that the increase in running bank ability and run blocking makes the kick return average way too high and leads to too many returns for touchdowns. So by increasing that are many more touchbacks than the average for the nfl but it balances out the high return average.

I could go into much more detail about this but for now I feel sharing this set would at least help anyone interested. One other thing, with tackle at 75 it drops the Yards after catch for receivers and Yards after contact for running backs, resulting in more methodical drives and "earned scores".

Re: Tested Sliders (using Cpu vs Cpu)

I started up a coaching career and wanted to share my updated sliders. These have been tested with all 32 teams using coach now and delegating everything to the cpu. Once in career mode these will yield you some very realistic results and challenging games. A side note on kicking..kickers with kick accuracy below 80 will miss too many field goals, and kickers with kick power below 80 won't be able to kick field goals far enough. The disparity between Kickers with attributes in the 90's and kickers below 80 is too much. It's just something you have to deal with to have accurate kicking percentages across the board. Enjoy!

Looks good. I will have to try these out. Sometimes I like to play as the GM and just delegate everything other than roster control. Those darn failed play creation goals. Lol

Re: Tested Sliders (using Cpu vs Cpu)

I'm not one much for delegation-I'll probably try with me calling the plays, even if it's off the nfl average a bit.

I also dont have issue with ints, so Ill keep at 30.

Not really sure what you are trying to do with KA at 1.

Re: Tested Sliders (using Cpu vs Cpu)

It's as I feared-QBA at 25 leads to too many INTs-I agree with you there. Ill try it a 1 and see if that helps reducing INTs.

I might try increasing QBA-see if I have the same passing issues I did with it at 25.

Re: Tested Sliders (using Cpu vs Cpu)

Last comment on this=pretty sure it was a low rated Josh Johnson and not necessarily the QBA playing a Seahawks team that knows their playbook. I couldn't seem to stop throwing iNTs and had trouble passing all around. Pass rush by the CPU was also fierce and I had my QB sacked 5 times in one quarter and a half.

If I use this slider set, I'd definitely need to get the Pass Blocking special skill and the the QB readiness special skill to equalize things somewhat. Performace would also be a priority-say Performance 4 instead of Performance 3.

Re: Tested Sliders (using Cpu vs Cpu)

These sliders can be used with you calling the plays. That won't affect anything. The testing has to be done CPU vs CPU with all 32 NFL teams though.

I am playing with a Dolphins Franchise and yes, you are going to have a very difficult time passing with a low rated QB until the playbook is known and your coach gets higher rated. It's going to be frustrating at times, but gives you a realistic feel of what a real coach has to deal with. That's what I like about using realistic sliders. And regarding the INT's, you have to keep it 1 or you are going way too many, and that is due to the qba at 25. As far as kicking accuracy at 1 I thought the same thing until I tried it and tested. The reason hat it works is because when you raise kick power the accuracy increases, so it balances out. These sliders are true and tested..

I spent several weeks on these and tested over 50 CPU VS CPU games. I know this sounds nerdy but I use an excel spreadsheet that I created using statistics to determine the likelihood of the means to match that of the NFL in the year 2008. But I enjoy numbers it's almost just as fun as playing the game for me.
