Reviving UAB

Next dynasty going to use all base rosters from the game coming out, taking all UAB players making them RS seniors. Starting off dynasty with existing coach and recruiting for uab while having them independent and playing all power schools (uab will be basically an fcs team) may do this one or two years probably two to have hopefully 50 my own recruits in play. Then creating myself as coach and taking over.

Re: Reviving UAB

I have done this a few times over now. I like having no one on the roster for year 2. The issue I had was getting fired each season if I built the roster the right way or too easy to build if I didn't follow any house rules. I scrapped the idea after two attempts, but now think the best approach might be getting a few seasons in as a OC/DC before taking over. The roster will be bad and the team will be a 0-2 win team each year.

I also went the independent route with the max number of FCS games but that made it too easy to get wins. The one I keep in C-USA was the one my coach was fired each season causing me to create 3 new coaches, it got old fast.

Thats the route I went with. Made all the Sonoma State guys Seniors and gave them a touch schedule. I was OC at Idaho until the Sonoma job opened up. They went 0-12 and fired the head coach after year 1. Thats when I stepped in, I'm in my 5th year now and still loving it.

The best part about starting with a blank slate (all seniors) if that you have to recruits for NEEDS, not for depth. It adds a good challenge to build the program. My QB just completed his career, he was a 91. Next guy up is a 72...and thats after offseason training. I just didn't have enough key players to start going for depth. (also had very strict recruiting rules).

Re: Reviving UAB

I didn't follow any rules for recruiting just did as always would, I actually signed the #2 QB 79 overall after adding him to my board week 6 due to no one recruiting him also, went and got a decent receiver as well. I also made a team builder team up and made the roster fairly bad as well, now have to decide which I wanna go with. Only player on my teambuilder team that's any good will my QB which made a Senior transfer from Pitt (favorite team) in Chad voytik due to him transferring anyways. Other than that hugest overall guy is 74, 73,73, 71 and 70. All the rest are 60 overalls and 50's think I even made 3 to 4 guys 48 overall as the computer would done for walk ons.

Re: Reviving UAB

It doesn't matter how bad you make your team initially. If you're pulling in the #2 QB in the class in the first season, you'll be a ten win team by season 3. Probably by season 2, assuming the QB wasn't the only good recruit you got

Re: Reviving UAB

If you add the unrecruited players then you will be a 10 win quick unless you have some amazing sliders. I went that route and it sucked the fun out fast. If you get 2-3 high overall each year you can win a lot of games.

My only advice is use a slow build method and build with recruits a 1* program would get. Getting the #2 ranked QB is going to make the build too easy and limit the fun that could be had. Just my advice.

Re: Reviving UAB

Agree I started over and recruited only 3* players who at most started off at 65 overall. I had a few members bolster into low 70s after scouting but that was only a few I recruited for 2 years and added to my teambuilder team my too players are Chad Voytik at QB as transfer at 84, WR 77 and a MLB 72. All the rest are 60's. My back up QBs. Are 54 and 56 overall. I'll need help. After 3 games (Texas State. @Baylor and @ Arizona I am 1-2 heading into my home game vs FIU.

Re: Reviving UAB

You can build UAB how you want. My advice was just what works for me. It is easy to find 4 & 5 star guys that the CPU is not recruiting that you can get. Those players make the rebuild happen really fast. For me I like to take my time and saw my error.
