Incorrect league champion

I just finished a season with Barcelona and ended up in a tie with Real Madrid at the top of the table with 80 points, but for some reason they gave the League championship to Real Madrid even though I had a +25 goal differential compared to their +17. Am I missing something?

Spanish league does not use total goal difference.
But instead it is decided by the goal difference between your matches with RM.
So if they scored more goals than you when you played each other (home and away)then they win the league.

I had this exact same thing happen to me in last year's game, its amazing the little minor details they get into the game that probably never get noticed.
