Practicing Jump Shots

For those of you who like to turn the shot meter off and rely on looking at a player's animation, what's your preferred method to practice jump shots in this year's edition of the game?

I've always headed over to "Freestyle" mode to get my timing down with players from all the teams I plan on using frequently. This year, however, "shot feedback" does not seem to work in any practice mode, whether it be "Freestyle" or "Scrimmage". I prefer not to use the shot meter, which means that I now have no reliable way of telling how early or late I am on my releases.

Do any of you find yourself in a similar situation? It's incredibly frustrating. Is this simply a bug, or are we getting pushed towards having to use the shot meter?

Fingers crossed.

The fact that this particular issue hasn't been brought up much by other people concerns me a bit.

The jumpshot mechanics are the same as they have always been just quicker

I practice shots in freestyle mode with player real % and the meter on.
