Pass Rush Ratings

What is the most important rating you look for when evaluating a pure 4-3 pass rushing DE?

Does pursuit have a great effect on pass rushing? Block shedding? Or is it PMVs and ACC?

I'm trying to determine what ratings to upgrade for my rookie DE in CFM. I don't user DEs.

I'm sure somebody somewhere has tested this.

Re: Pass Rush Ratings

I would say speed, and ACCelration.

As for the other ones depends. im moving towards block shedding then finesse moves instead of power moves. Along with swim trait

If you're usering them then it's a combination of their best pass rush move + block shed + athletic traits. If you're not then you need to throw some play recognition into the equation.

Re: Pass Rush Ratings

This year by far pass rush move is most important. Followed by BSH, then athletic ability and PRC.

Re: Pass Rush Ratings

block shedding is only for breaking free from blocks on run plays or after the ball is caught. for pass rushing they use power/finesse move.

Re: Pass Rush Ratings

Look at most T ratings for SPD/ACC/AGI. Most are naturally pretty low. A lot are in the 50s-60s range. Fast and quick (SPD/ACC) DEs are able to get off the ball and get up field ahead of the T. They then are able to either get around the T or execute a finesse move (spin or swim) to go inside the T.

Generally, I look for those athletic freaks that have 80s in SPD/ACC/AGI/STR. From there I can work on other attributes.

This presupposes that you are running a 4-3. A 3-4 is an entirely different animal.

Pretty sure pursuit does affect how hard they come after the QB.

I'm on board with this.

I always felt like the guys with the higher Pursuit ratings not only take the better angle to the carrier, but also close in faster. Maybe it's the better angle that creates the illusion that they are faster....

It seems like those pursuit guys really BARREL IN on the QB when he's back there.

As far as the topic is concerned, It depends:

- I think guys with high Strength benefit best with good Power Moves

- I also feel Guys with decent Acceleration & Speed need good Finesse Moves to take advantage of it; they can get by a blocker without losing too much momentum.
