Re: Welcome to the Land - NBA 2k17 Cleveland Cavaliers Association

Cavs raise first banner and hold off Knicks for win

CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Cavaliers took a moment to reflect as their first Championship banner was raised.

After that it was business as usual.

LeBron James had a typical 18 points despite a tough shooting night, Kyrie Irving scored 21 and Kevin Love added a double-double with 14 points and 14 rebounds, as the Cavs outlasted the New York Knicks 100-95.

James, who got choked up while speaking to the crowd before the game, continued his perfect record on ring nights. He was 2-0 when the Miami Heat players were presented with their championship rings.

"There were so many emotions," he said. "To see us win the finals and tonight being that last exclamation point to receive your ring in front of your fans was a great moment."

J.R. Smith may have been the key to the Cleveland win as his 18 points on 6 of 12 shooting including three of five from three point range came a key moments to keep the Cavs ahead.

Carmelo Anthony led all scorers with 30 points and Kristaps Porzingis had 17 points and 8 rebounds.

The Knicks, who missed the playoffs the last three seasons, are expecting major improvement after acquiring Rose(10 points) from Chicago to run the offense and signing center Joakim Noah, who scored 3 points and grabbed 14 rebounds in 31 minutes.

"We will improve, I guarantee it," Anthony said. "There are just so many moving parts right now. We need to get better, but we're not running from that fact."

Re: Welcome to the Land - NBA 2k17 Cleveland Cavaliers Association

King James scores 36, leads Cavaliers over Raptors
TORONTO -- LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers defeated the Toronto Raptors in last seasons Eastern Conference Finals.

On Friday night, he picked up where he left off.

James scored 36 points for the Cavs on the way to a 106-99 win.

Cleveland needed all those points to survive DeMar DeRozan's 33 points on 16 of 32 shooting. James hit 14 of 22 shots from the field and all seven of his free throw attempts, but had an un-Bron like 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 turnovers.

Kyrie Irving picked up the slack in the passing department with 11 assists and Kevin Love had another matching double-double with 16 points and rebounds.

Toronto led by three after the first quarter. Cleveland took a one point lead into the half and held it through the third quarter before closing out the game in the fourth for a seven point win.

"I think it was a good test for us," James said. "It's fun to have games like that throughout the regular season, it sharpens your sword."

The Raptors were unable to capitalize on another strong effort from Kyle Lowry, who had 23 points and 11 assists, and DeRozan, who followed up a 26-point performance in a season-opening win over Detroit.

DeRozan was concerned with the final quarter, where Toronto allowed Cleveland to go on a 12-2 run that opened the game up.

"They caught a rhythm, we turned the ball over and they took advantage of it," he said. "Then we were always fighting."

Re: Welcome to the Land - NBA 2k17 Cleveland Cavaliers Association

LeBron James, Kyrie Irving lead Cavaliers past Magic, 99-90
CLEVELAND -- LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers got a late scare, but their winning streak over the Orlando Magic remained intact.

James scored 21 points, Kyrie Irving added 19 and Cleveland beat Orlando for the 15th straight time, 99-90 on Saturday night.

Cleveland brought a nine point lead into the fourth quarter, but the Magic got as close as four in the final minutes.

Then Irving took over, hitting two straight 3-pointers and scoring 10 points in the quarter as the NBA champion Cavaliers improved to 3-0. They haven't lost to the Magic since Nov. 23, 2012, in Orlando.

Cleveland coach Tyronn Lue was unhappy the Cavaliers didn't put the game away earlier against an 0-3 team.

"I thought we let our guard down because of their record, and not playing them as a good team," he said. "They're struggling right now but they have a good team and we didn't respect that."

"Kyrie was able to knock a few down in the fourth quarter when we needed it the most," James said.

"We leave Kyrie Irving open, and he's the only person you can't leave open out there," Orlando center Bismack Biyombo said.

Kevin Love came up one rebound shy of his third straight double-double but still scored 18 points with 9 rebounds, Tristan Thompson grabbed 14 boards and Iman Shumpert chipped in with 10 points of the Cavs bench.
