The Napoli/Nice and Hoffenheim/Liverpool match-ups are certainly going to be interesting! I'm looking forward to it.

Nice is a good team but I think they will get throttled by Napoli

Re: 2017-2018 UEFA Champions League/Europa League Thread

Super Cup really showcased one team that's played and won together for a number of years versus a team that's still building itself up to get back on that level.

United only had a good stretch of like the first 10-15 minutes before Madrid controlled the match. They were faster on the ball, their build-up was faster, they were constantly moving around and eventually catching us sleeping on defence. Their first goal was arguably offside, but considering the amount of times they hit the woodwork and our own "should've scored that" chances, they'd still come out on top. I'm not going to overreact about a Super Cup loss -- still wanted to win though -- but it was ridiculous how much standing around United did when we had possession, coupled with so many bad passes and quite a number of those weren't even caused by pressure from Madrid.

Hopefully, our play in Europe improves once the UCL starts in earnest. We've seen the bar, and we're quite short of it.

After Red Bull divested themselves from RB Salzburg, both Leipzig and Salzburg were allowed to compete. Salzburg was eliminated on away goals in the 3rd round. Is Leipzig the most dangerous Pot 4 team ever? In any reasonable group, Leipzig should be able to get 2nd or 3rd place, but if a super group of Real, PSG, Tottenham and Leipzig were to happen, they'd be in for a humbling experience.

From the Independent:

"Coutinho would not be cup-tied for the Champions League even if he played for Liverpool in the second-leg next week though, given Uefa allow players to represent different clubs between the qualifying rounds and the group stage."

He's not even in Germany. I had also forgotten about that rule.
