What do you guys think of moving guys up or down week to week?

Lets take Ravens center Ryan Jenson for example.
Launched at a 71 ovr.
Week 2 went down to 69
week 3 back up to a 72
week 4 up to 75
week 5 down to 73

I think unless a guy performs drastically different from his ratings we don't need to see him change after every week.

Guys are going to have good games and bad games. These changes are equivalent to the impact of confidence in CFM.

Seems like a lot of unnecessary work and knee jerk reactions. Grading every player week to week is too much work. So now we have a situation where Ravens center has had his ratings change every week and yet a guy like Jimmy Smith who so far is graded as one of the best cover corners of the season hasn't been touched.

That's why I think they should do them every 4 weeks makes more sense then bumping up then dropping them every week.

I'd have minimal changes the first four weeks, and try to stay away from editing the same guy's ratings on a weekly basis. The guys I's be most inclined to change would be mid to late round rookies that have low ratings but appear to break out right away, at least make them respectable in the game

How is Watson a 76 when he's currently a top 10 QB through 4 weeks? He should easily be an 85+.

Yea, the current system of weekly knee jerk reactions to ratings has been going on for years. Personally, I'd prefer a different system than weekly, but this is one way they keep some people interested, right?

I remember reading blogs by Madden Manniac for Madden 13 that discussed this exact issue. Here's a couple that I found for those that might be interested in reading them. Lots of data to digest.

He also did a blog for Madden 12(?) that detailed how different attributes affected OVR. I don't know if the formula is the same, as I think they have added, deleted, or combined attributes since then, but it was an interesting read at the time too.
