ACE vs Defensive Settings

Please explain me this once and for all. Does Adaptive Coaching Engine overrides personal defensive settings or viceversa???

For example, with ACE activated or not, if I put pre-rotate on YES for J.Wall seems that nothing happens. The same if I choose to smother/deny shooters, my defender leaves his assignment almost everytime. Where I'm wrong?

And stay the same all the time or ACE can change them when it's appropriate during the game?

Dude who does 2k videos I think his name is Itchy Roll speaks about this and I think I remember him saying that ACE overrules defensive settings.

It is the same person...On OS his name is itchyroll, on youtube his name is sam pham.
