Are You Willing to Trade?

* 20% DECREASE in Block Power (breaks down more easily)

for

* 30% INCREASE in STAMINA TAX for blocked strikes

??

I feel as if whiffed & evaded strikes have the perfect stamina tax right now.

But I think blocked strikes ought to cost just a little bit more stamina. I also think that block power is still too powerful/unrealistic given the very small MMA gloves/etc.

Would you be willing to trade some Block Strength --- meaning pressure fighters will break your guard easier if you don't use other tactics such as footwork/head movement/etc. ---- if that meant that blocked strikes cost your opponent more stamina?

Def. interested in hearing conversation on this.

Personally, I'd be OK with a 1 for 1 change (20% decrease in block strength; 20% increase in blocked strikes stamina tax) --- but really I'd prefer the stamina tax change to be slightly larger (25% or 30%).

P.S. I propose several alternatives to current blocking mechanics below --- but for this poll, please only consider the trade of Block Power with Stamina Tax

Re: Are You Willing to Trade?

Yes but only if we’re giving the ability to control our block like Gaethje.

That should be the future of the blocking system for the game

Re: Are You Willing to Trade?

30% would not justify a 200% increase in damage.

Remember that a 200% increase means total of 3x the current damage.

Re: Are You Willing to Trade?

Fight Night had a great blocking system IMO --- I know I know different sport

I'd like to see some more 'dynamic blocking' put into place.

An example I have always used is my opponent throwing a Head Kick and whiffing, so he spins around.

If I throw a huge overhand --- and he puts his high guard up before he completes the spin (i.e. he is BLIND to what strike I'm throwing, if we're assuming 'real life' viewpoint and he has no eyes in back of his head --- maybe he is able to deflect some of the damage from my shot, but not all of it.

Which would either devastate his blocking power and/or have a lot of bleed-thru damage.

Sure, if you miss a kick and are spinning, you can cover your head cuz you expect something to hit you as you come back around. But you really don't know what kind of strike it is, heck you don't even know if it's coming from the Left, Right, or Down the Middle ---

So yea I'd like to see some more nuance with block power & block breaking too

20% increase in damage (to block power) not 200% Unless I'm misunderstanding you.

P.S. I'm also willing to make more strikes bleed-thru as part of the trade haha

Im tired, I read 200%, then yeah thats more acceptable. Would have to do a beta to see how viable it is.

Re: Are You Willing to Trade?

Voted yes, but I’m not a fan of either choice tbh. Leave block strength as is, and make stamina penalty for blocked strikes double what it is now. Most of the online fights are 3 accelerated rounds... that’s maybe 9 mins of gameplay total? Not enough time for stamina wasters to get punished. The stamina taxes for mindless spam should become apparent before the match is over

I still think block power is a bit too powerful, but I do agree with you overall --- and I'm glad you bring up accelerated rounds --- many people say that throwing 100+ strikes in a round is 'possible' in real life. Sure it is. But remember that the pace they are REALLY fighting at is double their output .... so someone throwing 100 strikes in a 5 minute round (accelerated)...is really throwing 200 strikes in 5 'real' minutes....

I still see 130 strikes in a round, which is really 260 strikes in 5 'real minutes'

260 strikes in (5 min x 60 sec) = 260 strikes in 300 seconds = nearly a strike per second lol

Of course it's just a game so I'm mostly OK with accelerated clock. But the sheer pace/volume when looked at it from a 'real time' point of view is something to really keep in mind IMO

It's a lot better than it used to be at least thx to whiff & evasion tax hikes the past couple months!!

I usually hate taxes but these are tax hikes i can get behind lol
