CPU Shooting More

Not sure if this is captured in anyone’s slider thread, but I’m searching for a way to make the CPU more aggressive when it comes to shooting the puck. This may be a situation where it’s a “under the hood” mechanism that cannot be changed with sliders, but I thought I’d reach out to the community for assistance. I’ve taken some suggestions onboard like raising the CPUs passing accuracy (which gives an unrealistic passing percentage), raising the CPUs difficulty by a few clicks (within the AI tab of the sliders) and the CPUs aggression (which leads to more penalties). Any slider recommendations will be greatly appreciated. The CPU just seems too passive when it comes to shooting the puck. I don’t remember having this issue in NHL 18....

Re: CPU Shooting More

So I’ve decided to try an experiment that I did in NHL 18 before they fixed the issues I had with one of the last tuners they released. I’m going to input my sliders on the Competitive game style instead of Full Sim. The game tends to be developed and tested with HUT and other online modes in mind, so I figure I’d give it a shot and see if the sliders that I use seem to make the CPU more aggressive while using the Competitive rather than Full Sim. At this point I’m all for trying anything to salvage this years NHL title from EA. I’ll post results of games later.

Re: CPU Shooting More

I was only able to get one game in with this experiment, which as a 2-1 victory over the Canucks. Shot totals were 27-23 in my favor and the CPU had spurts of aggressiveness. I did have to lower game speed from 2 to 0 due to the pace of the game being a bit too arcade like. I guess that’s from using game style 3/4 (competitive) as the base for my sliders. Should be able to play a couple more games later today. I know that with those series you need multiple games in order to get a really good feel for anything. Will post more results later.

So my experiment was to input my sliders from the Full Sim game style 4/4 into the Competitive game style 3/4 to see if the CPU played any differently. This worked in NHL 18 as the CPU seemed to play more aggressive since that particular game style was developed to be more arcade like. So my thought process was to use my Full Sim sliders in Competitive. Not sure if this works as I’ve only been able to play one game since doing this. I’m hoping to get more games in tonight and tomorrow to get a feeling if it’s actually working or not. Thanks for posting the differences between the two game styles.

Re: CPU Shooting More

I still believe that there’s an “under the hood” mechanism between the 4 game styles that is coded into the game. Call me crazy

Re: CPU Shooting More

If you want the CPU to shoot more, increase the puck control slider.

Increasing game speed also helps, but to a lesser degree

Thanks for the advice. I’ll increase the CPUs puck control. I believe that I’ve increased their pass accuracy to 40/100, but I’m not really sure that has done much. What would you suggest increasing the CPUs puck control to?
