Random crashes to desktop

Hey guys,

I've had NBA 2K19 installed for months and have played (according to STEAM) about 40 hours and dozens of full (play now) games.

Recently, as in the last week, since the latest patch, the game randomly crashes.
As in, simply drops back to the desktop. No error, no BSOD, nothing.

This is the ONLY game that does this as well, so I'm confident it's not my hardware. That, and the fact like I said I played the game for months just fine before the latest patch.

Anybody else experiencing anything like this? I've even uninstalled and redownloaded and reinstalled the entire game.

Any ideas I'd love to hear it. Thanks!

Re: Random crashes to desktop

I had the same thing happen to me last night. Crashed to desktop, no errors. First time it's happened in a long time. It wasn't due to the patch, though. The latest patch is still in a testing branch on Steam.

EDIT: Looks like the patch is now out of QA and available on Steam.

Any ideas what caused your CTD? Has it been repeated?

Re: Random crashes to desktop

every version of 2k has done this on my pc. the screen just randomly minimizes.

I think this has to do with a conflict with some messaging service on the pc.

2k on my pc usually minimizes when I get a pop up/message that there is an update for one of my devices (printer), applications, security software (mccaffee, malware bytes).

No, it happened last night and nothing out of the ordinary was running. The game started up with no issue, so I just shrugged it off as nothing major.

Re: Random crashes to desktop

Well it continues to happen; have at it happen at least 5 more times since my first post.
I just go into Play Now, and it will usually crash before halftime. Sometimes I can make it to the mid 4th quarter, but I haven't been able to finish a game in weeks.

I've disabled almost all Windows apps at startup, tried running with Windows Defender disabled, closing any updating services, and even running it windowed by hitting alt+enter. Same thing.

When I google this issue, there is literally almost nothing about it, I don't know whether that's because NBA2k has a rather small audience on PC, but it just feels like me and only a handful of other folks have this issue (you guys in here), so I'm thinking about just giving up on the game entirely...

Re: Random crashes to desktop

Hate to hear you're having a problem. Have you tried opening a support ticket with 2K to see if they can help you?
