|Feeling Happy in Nittany Valley|The Corbin Era

July 23rd, 2012

Penn State coach Joe Paterno was fired in November following revelations of sexual abuse by former assistant Jerry Sandusky.

Emmert banned Penn State from bowl games for four years, imposed massive scholarship reductions (a total of 40 initial scholarships lost over four years) and fined the school $60 million.

Emmert also vacated all of Penn State's victories from 1998 through 2011, meaning former coach Joe Paterno loses 111 wins from what had been a total of 409 victories, the most all time in major college football.

The NCAA, which placed Penn State on five years' probation, is reserving the right to investigate and punish individuals implicated in child sex-abuse case until after criminal proceedings.

"This is an unprecedented, painful chapter in the history of intercollegiate athletics," Emmert said during a news conference at NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis.

The ruling was precedent-setting because Emmert bypassed usual investigative protocol and instead turned to the NCAA executive committee and Division I Board of Directors for the authority to punish Penn State because senior leaders concealed information for years that could have stopped former assistant coach Jerry Sandusky from sexually abusing children. Emmert's actions were swift and decisive, and the boards unanimously supported the sanctions.

2 Weeks Later...

August 2nd, 2012

Just two short weeks after the NCAA announced that Penn State will not appear in any bowl games for four years and the firing of Joe Paterno, the University of Pennsylvania State has hired first time head coach, 24 year old Wyatt Corbin.
Corbin does not have any coaching experience at all.

Corbin played football at Bedford High School as a quarterback in Massachusetts.

Corbin graduated from the University of UMASS Lowell in 2011

Words from Corbin in an interview.

"I am honored to coach at Penn State, growing up I had been a big fan of Joe Pa. It is ashamed that it had to end this way. Like you have heard, I have no coaching experience at all, so let's try to make the most of it,"

Penn State will have there first game against Syracuse in September.

CONFERENCE REALIGNMENT

Since App St, UNC, and Charlotte are new teams in the FBS, I switched them out with UAB (UAB's program is discontinued), Idaho (Returning to FCS) and UMASS (My decision).

I then put all the teams in the correct conference as of 2018
