Injuries

I Haven't played in months. .... Are the injuries still extreme(meaning to many a game)?

Depends on where you have the slider and what's too many for you. I have mine on 38. Some guys lower, some higher.
I've had as many as 7 injured at a time but that isn't the norm and a lot of time a player just misses that one game he got hurt in.
Only once in 9 seasons have I had all three RBs hurt at once.
I don't mind injuries, it's part of the game and you need to draft for good depth as well.
I find mostly offense injured. Never get a DB hurt and rare a LB gets hurt

Re: Injuries

Injuries haven't changed substantially for me since launch, so it depends on your definition of "way too many". It's also highly dependent on quarter length, auto-sub settings, how you use specialist positions, the injury and fatigue sliders, and position.

With 12 minute quarters, injuries turned down 5, and fatigue at default, I usually see the following:

QB - rarely injured when simming, and pocket QBs rarely injured when playing. Scrambles or guys running a lot of options will miss 2-4 weeks at a time, once or twice a season

HB - frequently injured whether simming or playing. I usually keep 4 HBs on the active roster, with a 5th on the PS. I also often use separate specialized guys for HB, 3RDB, and PWHB. The 4th HB ends up starting at least once a season, and the 3RDB, PWHB, and starter all sub for each other at least once per season, and I have to pull the 5th off the PS maybe once every 3rd season. It's never safe to only go into a game with only 2 active.

TE/WR - infrequently injured. Can usually expect 1 or 2 to miss 4 weeks or so per season.

OL - occasionally injured. I usually keep 5 starters and 2 "swing" backups capable of filling in at any position, for a total of 7 OL on the roster, with 1-2 more on the PS. Injuries across the 5 starters results in at least 1 of the backups getting regular starts, and both are active at the same time at least once a season, but I rarely have to pull from the PS (maybe every 4th season).

DL, LB - one or two moderate-length injuries a season
..nothing standard depth can't handle.

DB - Rarely injured....maybe one guy out of the whole list of CB, FS, and SS misses 3-4 weeks per season.

I consider all of those to be fairly realistic...HB could be toned down some, and DB could be increased a little, but HB is a roster spot where I want to see snaps spread around the depth chart anyway, so I'm ok with it.

Re: Injuries

I just turn them off. Beats the hell out of experimenting with sliders, and the biggest beneficiary ends up being the AI teams. They have a hard enough time developing their talent without having those players derailed by injury.

At least this way the Browns always get Mayfield, Chubb, and Garrett to 99 OVR and on the field on the same time.

Re: Injuries

This is where EA has rate of injuries set per position for the console guys & wonder why running backs drop like flies especially with a higher injury slider value.

Even on default (40) which is what I use the CPU v CPU simulated games rarely have many injures, some teams have none, some with 1-3 and a rare few with 4 or more.

I get the penalty being a human team that plays all my games out and get a wide variety of injuries as does the CPU team during games.

I think it adds a layer of difficulty for me as I'm always signing guys from my PS or FA and always draft for depth. Plus I've found some rookie gems that allow a player wanting huge money to walk.

Awesome, thanks for this. Right now in the 32 man franchise I'm in multiple teams have 3 and some even 4 running backs injured, it's getting crazy. Knock on wood but I haven't had issues with running backs yet, but currently my entire starting d-line is out for multiple weeks and I'm missing half of my o-line.

Good stuff, thanks. Cool to see my anecdotal observations weren't far off what's expected.

Side note: You're also probably going to be the one to blame for me going back to PC, you keep posting stuff like that...I miss having access to it.

I'm an entirely PC gamer as it is....the only reason I own a console in the first place is Madden. When they stopped producing it for PC after 08, I finally broke down in 2009 and bought a 360 to play Madden 10; was the first console I'd owned since the NES I bought in 6th grade.

Seriously, the only reason I bought it on console this year was because I'd literally only dust off my Xbox 1 once a quarter when a UFC mood hit me otherwise.
