14 man roster question

Just bought the game. Have a player as the 14th man on my roster and I want to get him playing time. How do I make him selectable. What am I missing?

Go to the "Coaching" tab and go to "Coach Gameplan"? I think. It'll let you set your rotations and give whatever minutes you want to whoever. But I'm pretty sure you can only play 13 players in one game. If you want to play him you have to set somebody else to "reserve"
