Sam Fisher | A NCAA Coaching Career (DDS:CF20)

With the disappointing 2018 season (4-8, 2-6 Conference) the Akron Zips and Terry Bowden have decided to part ways. Replacing Bowden will be 38 year old Sam Fisher. Fisher is a native of Columbus Indiana and this will be his first college coaching job.

Dawn of Fisher era off to a rocky start; Akron loses to Memphis 30-17 at home
Akron, OH --- Fifth year SR George Fajardo led the Zips offensively going 15/36 for 188 yards with 2TD and 2INT. Kyle Seward led the ground attack gaining 129 yards on 20 attempts. Senior James Stanton led the receiving corps with 106 yards on 4 receptions. Unfortunately Akron couldn't get it in the end zone, losing the turnover battle 3-1.

Akron travels to West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers next week.

Zips blown out at home by NC State Wolfpack, 65-17
AKRON, OH --- Evidently coach Sam Fisher, didn't remind the team that the first bye week of the season is next week, not this week.

Fifth year senior QB George had by far his worse offensive game of the season, going 22/44 for 233 with 0 TD and 4 INT. Unfortuntly the defense also decided not to show up and allowed their season high of 565 yards and 65 points.

Akron is off next week before heading to Oxford to take on in state rival , conference opponent & winless Miami (OH).

On a positive note for Akron, they did get 2 3 start recruitment commitments.

First up is 19 year old LB from Centerville High Schoool, David Guinn.

The 2nd recruit is also a 3 star, T Marquis Broadnax from South County Secondary (Lorton, VA)

DEKALB, IL --- It was another case of close but no cigar for the Akron Zips. The Huskies were able to hold on for a 11 point win. Akron cut it to 8 with 0:12 seconds left. But the onside kick failed and Gerald Ritchie kicked a 55 yard field goal with 0:02 seconds left to give the Huskies the 11 point win.

George Fajardo went 23/35 for 314 yards. Unfortunately was able able to get in the end-zone once, along with 1 interception.

Fifth year Senior Kyle Seward had 80 yards on 21 attempts with 2 touchdowns. He also had 3 receptions for 20 yards.

Akron heads to Buffalo, NY next week to take on the 2-2 Buffalo Bulls before having another bye week.

Head Coach Sam Fisher announced after the game that he will be making some lineup changes for next game to try and kickstart the team. Despite the good year so far from Fajardo, Fisher announced backup QB Edward Hoffman will get the start next week. "It's nothing against Fajardo, we just have to see what al we have" said Fisher.

But Fisher said QB isn't the only change, "We are gonna be switching up alot of the roster. Gotta see who wants to play and who doesn't and what some of the underclassman can do."

BUFFALO, NY --- Heartbreak in Buffalo. It took double overtime but the Bulls were able to hand Akron their 8th straight loss.

It was all tied at 35 heading to OT. As mentioned last week, Edward Hoffman got the start at QB. He was sacked by Russell Brown late in the 2nd quarter that led to a Bruised Hip injury, he did not return to the game. In came George Fajardo. Up until that point Hoffman was 7/13 for 64 yards with 1TD. In the 2nd half Fejardo went 23/39 for 221 yards with 1 touchdown.

The rushing attack was pretty much 50/50 split by fifth year senior Louis Villanueva and Kyle Seward. Villaneuve had 54 yards on 17 attempts, while Seward 57 on 14 attempts.

Senior James Stanton had 9 receptions for 110 yards and 1 touchdown.

Akron has a bye next week before head to Amherst, MA to take on the UMass Minutemen, who are also win less at 0-5.

Re: Sam Fisher | A NCAA Coaching Career (DDS:CF20)

I found this thread from WS and I believe you posted it in their Slack as well. Can't believe I haven't seen this before. Tough start on the field but landing those two players on the recruiting trail is a nice start. It will be interesting to see how true those reports are since the report certainty is pretty low. Regardless, that tackle's work ethic is incredibly high so hopefully he can be a cornerstone on the line for you.
