Re: The Super Mega Scarlets!
Scarlets Look to go Universal!
Skipper 'LaBruiser ready for challenge
In a dimly lit room we got to meet the man behind the Scarlets charge towards the inaugural Universal League Season. Sat smoking a cigar, donning Scarlet colors, Tony LaBruiser spoke up about his thoughts and hopes for the upcoming season.
"We are of course excited" he began. "There will be alot of attention on all of the teams in the league, but we like everyone else have a chance at making an impact".
The Scarlets have declared one of the leagues smallest budgets and are believed to be holding back should an upgrade become available in the free agent pool.
"I wouldnt say we have held back on this team. You can see we have spent big where we needed to, there is depth in our pitching staff and im a firm believer that you win Championships by stopping the other team scoring"
"IF there is an option to upgrade in the market, then we do have space to do so, but right now im focused on this group I have with me right now"
When asked what he would accept from his team this season, LaBruiser finished with.
"Look we are here to win. Im not thinking of anything else, lets get a winning record and see where that gets us. There are 4 places for 16 teams to make the playoffs, its going to be tough thats for sure. BUT we have to give ourselves the best chance possible. Its 82 games, win 50 of those and im sure you will be close"
It was good speaking to the Scarlets 'Skipper and he certainly feels he has the team ready to compete. The reality is, 82 games is a long slog and any team that can put together a consistent run has a chance. The depth in pitching for the Scarlets is a positive, but is there enough offense in that lineup to give the pitching staff something to work with? That question can only be answered by LaBruiser himself and he certainly feels that he can make the most of what he has.
