Best of the Scarlets:

SS - Victor Clowners

Playboy 'Clowners is touted as the teams Shortstop and best fielder. At 29 Clowners is not known for his power, but is likely to put up solid numbers in the coming season. Clowners may get distracted by his off-field antics, but dont that let you sleep on him being the 'Star'let this season

CF - Monty Strudly

Monty Strudly is going to lead the team off and even though he is the wrong side of 30 (35 to be precise), he has the fastest wheels in the clubhouse and the Scarlets will hope he can get on base to make the most of his speed. Strudly may well call it quits after this season, so expect him to give it his all in the chase for a Championship ring.

SS/3B - Roy Knockmore

Knockmore is more accustomed to playing at Short' but with Clowners comfortable in that role, Knockmore is likely to play the hot corner. 'Knock-Knock' is expected to produce solid numbers all round and his knack for hitting against LHP will see him be useful in various situations.

SP - Emilio Reeves

Reeves is easily the teams 'Ace and will have a huge hand in how the Scarlets fair this upcoming season. Left-Hander Reeves has a wide arsenal of pitches as he will be looked upon to earn his high salary $8.6M in the coming season. At 31 he should be in his prime and if he can stay healthy, there is a big chance of him anchoring the Scarlets for years to come.

RP - Rench Edwards

The big earner Edwards is going to be a 'Rench on the opposition lineups. Edwards has a heater that can hit 100mph and when used correctly is probably the teams lights out pitcher. it is still undecided whether the team will use Rench as a Closer, but in any situation Edwards will be a positive for the club.

RP - Hubbub Bale

Another solid reliever in the Scarlets system, who though he only has 2 pitches, has the wildest Curveball in the league and will use that to great effect. Hubbub combined with Rench, is a huge 1-2 relief punch for the team in the shortened 5-inning league.

Re: The Super Mega Scarlets!

Scarlets Look to go Universal!
Skipper 'LaBruiser ready for challenge

In a dimly lit room we got to meet the man behind the Scarlets charge towards the inaugural Universal League Season. Sat smoking a cigar, donning Scarlet colors, Tony LaBruiser spoke up about his thoughts and hopes for the upcoming season.

"We are of course excited" he began. "There will be alot of attention on all of the teams in the league, but we like everyone else have a chance at making an impact".

The Scarlets have declared one of the leagues smallest budgets and are believed to be holding back should an upgrade become available in the free agent pool.

"I wouldnt say we have held back on this team. You can see we have spent big where we needed to, there is depth in our pitching staff and im a firm believer that you win Championships by stopping the other team scoring"

"IF there is an option to upgrade in the market, then we do have space to do so, but right now im focused on this group I have with me right now"

When asked what he would accept from his team this season, LaBruiser finished with.

"Look we are here to win. Im not thinking of anything else, lets get a winning record and see where that gets us. There are 4 places for 16 teams to make the playoffs, its going to be tough thats for sure. BUT we have to give ourselves the best chance possible. Its 82 games, win 50 of those and im sure you will be close"

It was good speaking to the Scarlets 'Skipper and he certainly feels he has the team ready to compete. The reality is, 82 games is a long slog and any team that can put together a consistent run has a chance. The depth in pitching for the Scarlets is a positive, but is there enough offense in that lineup to give the pitching staff something to work with? That question can only be answered by LaBruiser himself and he certainly feels that he can make the most of what he has.

Re: The Super Mega Scarlets!

Gameday 1:

A drab and surprising start for the Scarlets as they lose their opener without giving up a hit! The hosting Freebooters made the most of their small ball approach, getting on base via walks (and a loose Beanball), before stealing and scoring the only run off a wild pitch!

Yes it was that sort of game for the Scarlets as they just couldnt muster any offense and wound up scoreless on 3 hits. It was a problem pointed out at the start of the season for the team and this opener will not allay any of their fans fears.

Freebooter Starter Winnie Noelle came through with 5 innings of scoreless pitching, striking out 5 as she earned POtG honours and a win on Opening Day. On the other side, Emilio Reeves takes the loss for his wild pitch, but he and the Scarlett staff will take heart from keeping their hosts hit-less in the loss.

Re: The Super Mega Scarlets!

Gameday 2:

The Scarlets rally in the 5th inning thanks to a Clowners Grand Slam special, as a 7 run inning saw the team fight back from an improbable 0-5 hole to snatch the dramatic win.

After struggling at the plate on opening night, the Freebooters came alive here as a 3-run jack from Woodman, was added to by a 2-run bomb by Brown to set the hosts on their way to a 5-0 lead and what they believed was a 2 game sweep of the Scarlets.

Alas Verde would remain on the mound too long and with the bases loaded in the 5th, Victor Clowners stepped up to juice a 400 run shot to left center to put the Scarlets ahead. Hazeldean would go on to add an insurance run off the reliever McPride, but it wouldnt be needed as Rench Edwards would come in to shutout the final inning and collect the save to send Scarlet home happy.

Re: The Super Mega Scarlets!

Gameday 3:

The home debut for the Scarlets and a squeaker of a win, as all the scoring came in the opening frame for the teams on show.

Ingram started things off with a sac-fly to give the Freedom the lead, but the bottom of the inning saw Gonzalez and Park help the hosts rally ahead.

It then boiled down to pitching, with Rench Edwards and then Mia Barry stepping up in the clutch to keep the Freedom off the board and earn the Scarlets a 2-1 win and record for the year.
