Honest answer: Because there are no current-year Players of the Month, since there is no baseball.

I was just thinking yesterday that the Crawford card would be fun to revisit when using an all-Giants lineup. I enjoyed it a lot in 18.

The POTM award has been out since the 1950s.... so many other choices besides these guys

These guys are already rated so it’s an easy plug and play. They also need to have the rights to anyone they use.

I don't believe the series was ever based on the actual POTM award. It's always been based on who is having a highlight-worthy month, and they've only been doing the series since 2017 if I remember correctly.
