Addressing the state of choke submission defence in the beta

Choke Submissions.

Less than 1% of the player base knew how to defend subs. I was one of the first people to figure it out and spread it through the ESFL discord, escaping subs from game changers & other people who swore subs were ultra OP. Submissions will almost certainly be nerfed but after understanding the mechanics they were not overpowered in my opinion. I could escape 0 stamina subs from Maia, standing guillotines, rear naked chokes, etc. I got subbed 3 times in 100+ attempts, all 3 to game changers. It was possible. The general advice I gave people was this: If you go smooth, you can go fast. If you go fast and are erratic, you're toast. The goal of the mini-game is/was to move ultra smoothly & not let the left stick come off the edges of the analog circle at all. If you managed that, you could move the circle pretty damn fast and be extremely difficult to submit.

95% of people I tell that sub d is a skill just say "no it's op and impossible to defend!" but 100% of the people I showed sub D too got 100x better at it and could escape most subs if they got good at it. This same mentality carries over to so many other elements of this game and others. Before people know what they are doing (myself included) they complain about something being broken and ask for change (i did this.)

I get what you're saying and I believe you but most of the problems stem from them not including a tutorial/practice mode. How we supposed to figure out all the new mechanics with no tutorial?? That and they only gave us one day to learn everything lol.

That's likely not really a priority for them, when it probably should have been. There is a loading screen tip with some helpful sub d info about not doing any erratic movements at least.

True story.

I got 1 sub on him in over 10 tries. When I finally did get him he was completely wilted and gassed.
