Slot Cornerback

Why in nickel man is my slot corner not guarding the slot receiver? My linebacker is getting caught in mismatches because the corner is taking the tight end instead of the receiver.

Sounds like a auto-flip issue?

I'll try setting auto-flip to off. In past Maddens I would notice this and manually flip it myself but since offenses no longer break the huddle and walk to the line of scrimmage I'm getting quick snapped before I can make an adjustment.

With that said in any 3 wide set I think the nickel corner should still match up with the slot WR. Must be an alignment issue versus certain offensive formations.

Re: Slot Cornerback

Are you using the coaching adjustment for dB match ups? I think it overrides the depth chart.

Re: Slot Cornerback

If you use auto flip the slot CB in nickel is always going to the strong side of the offense's formation. Set default alignment to "man" if you want to keep using auto flip but don't want that particular alignment.

Ok I was unaware the corner was automatically going to the strong side of the formation. I never really use the alignments unless I have a really weak or slow corner going up against a top flight receiver.

Thanks!!

This is probably not a thread for this and apologies to the OP, but would you please care to elaborate what are the pros and cons of each alignment, be it default, base, man or whatever? Thanks!
