Avoiding sacks

What are your techniques for breaking and avoiding sacks?

The took the avoid sack mechanic out years ago. Then last year they had a mechanic that let you completely drop the passing window and use jukes and spins, but that's out too now.

I sometimes will break sacks randomly but there's no real ryhme or reason to it.

Does anyone else have any type of technique to breaking sacks?

Re: Avoiding sacks

It feels completely random and because the animations take sooooo long, feels completely pointless.

What avoid sack mechanic are you talking about, that they took out? The break sack animation? That's still in there, as is the scramble mechanic to drop the passing icons and become a runner...it's (hold) R2/right trigger.

Did they have another mechanic in the past I'm forgetting?

The animations can be painfully long, but they don't feel quite as much of a locked-in trap as they did last year. This year, I've actually survived a break-sack animation to scramble or complete a (non throw-out-of-sack) pass.

Re: Avoiding sacks

I could be getting my games confused but I’m pretty sure there were a couple of years when flicking LS in certain directions with a qb made him roll/duck under to that side. Flicking up would give you a quick step up in the pocket

No, you're right...I remember that mechanic now that you mention it.

Was pretty twitchy, wasn't it? Like the rollout left/right was way bigger than it should have been (although I remember the step up part being pretty decent).
