Re: Madden 22 Gameplay Interview with Clint Oldenburg by Sports Gamer Online

Not really anything new, just some reiteration.

Next gen stats drive AI behavior/tendencies, inside of Franchise they will change based off of what happen in your world, as opposed to being updated with real world data like in the front end.

Rac catch will not play two man animation sequences at all.

Max speed effort animations will look more realistic.

A lot more custom archetype animations packages as well as some signature WR releases.

Home field advantage/M-factors will be updated during the year based off of feedback, and new data learned from games being played this year in newer stadiums.

More to come from Clint in other videos including oline/dline stuff and a new unreleased next gen gameplay feature.

Thanks for the written summary man. Looking forward to the podcast this week talking about beta feedback. Hopefully there will be a blog to go along with it.

Re: Madden 22 Gameplay Interview with Clint Oldenburg by Sports Gamer Online

From part two:

Clint is clearly a bit annoyed at the statement that the momentum stuff is just copied from NCAA. Yes it originated there but it has been totally been built out to be much more than what it was there.

(This next part I had assumed on my own and wish that I had said when I first thought it) Madden is not going to be using Hypermotion, their movement system is derived from Next Gen Stats and is totally different than what they are doing in FIFA. He wouldn't say they would never go that way(IMO he's just being diplomatic here) but he doesn't think that it will happen.

The improvement made in the tacking space-greater respecting of momentum, physics, and angles-have been applied to the trenches, OL will dominate smaller defenders a lot better than have in the past, added a lot more animations so that the engage angle between players isn't always heads ups. Talked about the improvements to the screen game blocking-chipping and then steering the DL inside, and chipping the defender who has man coverage on the back. Also added more animation coverage to double team blocks to make them more effective especially vs 3 man lines. Lanes will open more organically because there there is more lateral movement in the blocking.

On the AI front in the run game they added a concept of leverage where the runner has a leverage point that he wants to get to based on the play called and that helps the run lanes open up more.

There will be another part with answers to community questions and the unannounced feature will be revealed.

Not expecting the unreleased feature to be anything that crazy.

Re: Madden 22 Gameplay Interview with Clint Oldenburg by Sports Gamer Online

Clint was 100% spot on about playing the D-Line a big success on 21. I loved the new mini game and even though I am clean screen guy the feedback was extremely helpful in learning how to use the mechanic.

Now I hope they add a toggle to turn it off since....I know how to play it and have a very good feel if I am beating up my CPU OL counterpart. But if a toggle is not added....not going to cry about it.

Having played the beta a ton....I can easily say the improvements are real and tangible and I am incredibly excited for Madden 22 on the PS5.
