Last Gen 2k21 or 22?

I've become so frustrated with what has happened to the current gen 2k, it's got me thinking that I may need to go back to last gen. 2k16 is still the greatest on that gen, but it's definitely dated.

I have 2k20 which plays ok: were any improvements made to 21 or 22? Normally those titles become roster updates when the new gen is coming, but just wondering.

If you are frustrated with current gen (Series X, PS5) 2K22 based on the changes to defense concerning Pick and Roll easily being abused, avoid 2K21 last gen (XB1, PS4) at all cost. It's just "run-n-gun" on that game. They call it rim running because it's a dunk and layup contest.

I can't say how 2K22 last gen plays because I haven't tried it yet. But please avoid 2K21 if the defense on 2K22 is your concern. The slow players are really slow on defense as well. I have it on PS4.

Last Gen 2k21 or 22?

My last 2K game on PS4 was 2K18 which I enjoyed a lot and 2K16 was also a very solid title.

2K22 blows them away on PS5

End of story.

I would wait till you get a new console.

Re: Last Gen 2k21 or 22?

I bought NBA 2K22 for XBox One and I have serious buyer's remorse. All I wanted to do was run a franchise with Cade Cunningham and the Pistons but the motion system feels super clunky and the game's defensive shortcomings have been over-compensated by spider-footed super-speed response times from on-ball defenders. In many instances it literally feels as though the defender is attached to my offensive player via rails and pulleys, allowing them to magically mirror any slight movement I make, like those one-man dance troupes.

Of course, I imagine the game can be mastered. I noticed I can abuse the pick-and-roll system to death, I can hit cutters after their defenders get jumbled, and for a while it seemed I could hit 3-pointers at a wild rate, but it always feels a lot more like I'm playing video games than actually playing real basketball.

In short, I find many aspects of this game not all intuitive to playing real basketball and through two decades of playing of 2K, I'm not sure I've ever sat and wondered about how nice it'd be to have another basketball option more than I have this year.

2K22 started with so much hope but the issues get progressively worse, rendering it the most frustrating and imbalanced 2K to date.

Re: Last Gen 2k21 or 22?

There was no need to change the way defense was being played this year in 2k22 next gen. Players didn't move like turtles and they had some common sense in terms of PnR coverage & cutter defense & help defense.

Now all that's almost all gone & it feels like a SLIGHTLY better 2k21 next gen now.

I laughed so hard reading that part. I completely understand the feeling. Sometimes it seems like the defender glides in place so fast that I can't shake him for anything. When I do alley-oops to my teammates in My Career the defender trailing them gets a supersonic boost once the ball is lobbed and he jumps like a madman trying to block the ball. LOLOLOL. It's a WTF moment. LOLOLOLOL.
