Week 3; Year 1

Week 3 is up.

I'd like everyone to be mindful of the sliders as they play this week. I'm not going to point your focus in any one direction or for any one specific thing, but I do want to hear some suggestions or concerns if people notice any.

Also, let's tone down the 70-point barrages. Don't make it a habit at any rate. Noone is in trouble, this is just a quick reminder. Chew clock if you must.

If anyone is potentially going to be penalized for scoring, could we have more guidance on what is allowable? I, of course, am concerned because I intend to keep up with OK State's fine tradition of being an offensive juggernaut.

My suggested rule change would be:
All backups subbed in if a team is up 40 at any point in the game, up 35 in the 3rd, or up 24 in the 4th.
Chew clock must be turned on and used (no hurry up) if a team is up 35 in the 3rd, or up 24 in the 4th.
All scores are acceptable so long as these conditions are followed.

I believe that would curb the excess you are concerned about(believe me, I easily could have crossed 100) while still allowing teams to operate fairly normally without fear of arbitrary penalties.

Re: Week 3; Year 1

I think common sense should be applied. I cannot remember what I was up but it was over with a few minutes left in the 3rd QT and I knew it. So at the beginning of the 4th QT I subbed in both sides of the ball and turned chew clock on. I ran until 3rd down and then passed if needed.

I ended up getting one more TD but I do not feel that is running it up. At least I hope not.

I'd rather avoid being too dogmatic about it. I liked that rule. Bottom line is to keep the scores reasonable when you are on offense. I don't care if you shut out every opponent (you won't).

Re: Week 3; Year 1

I am good with taking a common sense approach to it too. I was merely making a suggestion so that we know generally what common sense is.

I tend more to letting my backups run a wide open playbook but still with a heavier dose of run. I'll admit I have a repetitious habit of holding down triangle after every play that I will need to break.

Its not a big deal to me. I just wanted to make sure I conform.
