4thString League Week 2 Season 2
Posted on January 21, 2011 at 03:21 PM.
Coming off the opening loss to ATL, a win against the Colts was a must. The first game got MADDENED (dropped) at 14-14 late in the first half.

The re-start began with a drive by the Panthers to take a 7-0 lead on a Clausen to Moss 8 yard pass. The 2nd quarter opened with a 22 yard pass from Sam Bradford to Pierre Garcon, with the Panthers answering with a near minute drive capped off by Ahmad Bradshaw getting his first touchdown of the year, making the score 14-7. I was able to hold the Colts to a field goal and then answered it with a Aaron Scott TD from Clausen with 10 seconds left in the half. 21-10 Panthers.

The third quarter opened with the a drive to inside the Colts 30 before Clausen was sacked and fumbled the ball which turned into a Colts Touchdown and stopped the Panthers from feeling comfortable at all. With the score 21-17 the teams exchanged interceptions before Jimmy Clausen hit Aaron Scott for a 70 yard touchdown pass to open the fourth quarter. The Colts responded with a drive into the redzone getting inside the 10 before throwing a pick to Ken Hamlin (2nd of the day). That Panthers then drove the ball into the redzone and scored on a fade to Randy Moss to put the game away 34-17 with just over 2 minutes left. The Colts drive faltered near midfield and the final score 34-17. I missed an XP at some point. No idea when.

Evening up the record was essential going into the Panthers bye week, with their GM's love for trading who knows what would have happened. As it was the Panthers barely missed bringing in Lofa Tatupa from the Seahawks, as they were more interested in making it a block buster deal rather than a 1 for 1 or 2 for 1 trade. Names mentioned in the trade talks included going from the Panthers the long forgotten Jon Stewart, Chris Cooley, Dan Connor and Brandon (Cotton) Flowers in exchange for Tatupa, John Carlson (Domer), Earl Thomas and a OLB to be named later. Tatupa was traded to the Chiefs for Thomas Jones and Derrick Johnson, a trade I can't really find fault with for either side.
