NBA2K11 awesomeness
Posted on May 14, 2011 at 02:43 PM.
It was an exciting year for Bulls fans during the regular season, as was it for me during my association mode in NBA2K11. Finishing with a record of 60-22, I finished two games off of their real pace. Obviously an 82 game season, I play 30 games a year, and sim the rest for time conveniences. I did make a few trades in year one, as I would have done if I was in Gar Foremans shoes, although I don't think our feet are the same size. The first trade was very early in the season; me feeling that Keith Bogans was not a good fit for the starting SG spot, I traded both my first and second round picks, him, and Kurt Thomas to the still LeBron-less Cavs for (SG,PG) Manny Harris and (C)Ryan Hollins, and their first rounder in 2011. Why they gave me there first round pick? I don't know, Perhaps they thought they were going to finish with a better record than me at that point. Perhaps the Cavs front office had just munched a bunch of peyote. Perhaps they thought Kurt Thomas had another 10 good years in him. I only control the Bulls, I'm not trying to rip off other teams, they were just stupid enough to accept the deal. Maybe they will use those extra second rounders for a surprise, I hope. They did get a starting SG out of the trade, none the less, not a very good one. So I insert Ronnie Brewer into the starting lineup with this move, and look to make Manny Harris a project at point guard, a future D Rose backup for cheap. I also sign Jerry Stackhouse as another 2 guard (I loved this guy when he first came into the league) This leaves me with Kover playing both the SF and SG poistions when needed, Taj Gibson is my sixth man, a great guy to bring off the bench for defense. I also use CJ Watson and Omer Asik in role player ummm, roles. LeBron recieved MVP for the season. D Rose made the first team All-NBA, my only player to do so, as in real life. I'll skip all the other stuff and get to the playoffs. I finished with the 3 seed, matching up with the Magic in round one. I took care of them pretty easily, only losing game 3 at their place, taking the series 4-1. The second round matches me up against the Heat. A series I look forward to in reality, and a series I was anticipating in my Association. I was a little sad to find that Dwayne Wade was injured and would be out for the whole series. Dissapointed because I wanted that challenge, to defeat them and all there preseason celebration glory. Well ok, I'll beat them anyways. 3rd Quarter of game one starts, It's a very close game, going back and forth, LeBron scoring 14 points in the first half, 10 in the second quarter alone, it looked like he was starting to get hot. LeBron drives, goes up for a dunk.... And Ryan Hollins hammers him (Omer has a concussion, and Ronnie Brewer is out as well) LeBron strains his shoulder and is out for two to four weeks. BUMMER!! I was looking forward to beating the best of the best, or getting beat, however it worked out. Now, I am playing a team where Chris Bosh is the only viable scoring threat, and it's not last years Raptors. This is what happens when you base your entire team off 3 players. One or two get hurt and you're team is severley in trouble. So I must continue onward, more than likely plowing through the Heat, as I'm up 2-0 as of 1pm on 5/14. Either the Knicks or Celtics await me, and I'll be back like Arnold to let the one or two readers know what happened. Love ya'll
