20/21 Season Game 8 Colorado Avalanche @ Carolina Hurricanes
The Avalanche traveled to Raleigh intent on bouncing back from an embarassing 5-2 loss at the hands of New Jersey. The Hurricanes, one of the hottest teams in the league with a 6-1-0 record in the fledgling stage of the season, made life difficult for Colorado in the first. Their talented puck moving defensemen took away the Avs usual high pressure forecheck in the first period. The game was won in the 2nd period, with Colorado scoring 3 times and limiting Carolina to just 2 shots on net. The first Avs goal came from captain Gabriel Landeskog, the 200th of his career. They doubled their lead when free agent signing Alex Galchenyuk opened his account for Colorado on a delayed penalty call. The Avs put the game out of reach with another goal by Landeskog. Carolina got on the scoreboard in the 3rd with a nice snipe by Fast. Colorado finished off the scoring with a late empty netter by Burakovsky. The Avs head to Philadelphia in two nights to finish their road trip against Gritty and the Flyers.
