Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners can't hold onto early lead, as Mets come back to win opener

Seattle - Robinson Cano hit a grand slam to give the Mariners a 5-0 lead, but M's pitching couldn't hold on as the Mets crawled back to get a 6-5 win in the opener at Safeco Field. Juan Lagares created most of the damage for the Mets scoring three runs in a 3-4 effort including the game winning homer off of Steve Cishek in the eighth inning. The Mariners will look to get the taste of this one out of their mouths tomorrow when they send Yovani Gallardo (8-5, 3.31 ERA) to the mound to match up with Matt Harvey (8-7, 3.93 ERA). First pitch is at 1:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners get blanked by Harvey, Mets

Seattle - Matt Harvey pitched 8.1 shut out innings before finally being pulled, and the Mets absolutely shelled Yovani Gallardo with 13 hits in just 3.2 innings as the Mets got a 6-0 win to take game two of the weekend series. The Mariner's bullpen managed to only allow two hits the rest of the way between Chris Heston, and Casey Fien, but Matt Harvey's stellar pitching gave the Mariners no chance of making a comeback. The Mariners will now look to salvage a game out of this series tomorrow when they send Felix Hernandez (10-6, 3.57 ERA) to the mound to face Zack Wheeler (5-8, 4.96 ERA). First pitch will be at 1:10 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

King reigns supreme as Felix shuts out Mets

Seattle - Felix Hernandez went the distance giving up just four hits, and recording eight strike outs in a shut out effort, as the Mariners got a 2-0 win to salavage a game in the weekend series with the Mets. Jean Segura, and Mike Zunino went yard for the Mariners offense which still struggled a bit after starter Zack Wheeler went out, but it was all the M's needed after Felix's stellar performance. Seattle will look to use this momentum as they hit the road for a nine game trip starting in Texas. It will be James Paxton (6-2, 2.72 ERA) in the opener matching up with Martin Perez (7-7, 4.93 ERA). First pitch will be at 5:05 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Paxton fans ten as Mariners win opener in Texas

Arlington - James Paxton struck out ten batters in 7.2 innings before Steve Cishek, and Edwin Diaz locked down the end, as the Mariners got a 3-1 opening win in their three game series with Texas. Kyle Seager homered, and Jarrod Dyson contributed two RBI with a 2-3 day for the Mariners offense who only got five hits, but it was enough behind Paxton's strong performance. Seattle will look to keep the momentum tomorrow when they send Hisashi Iwakuma (12-6, 3.69 ERA) to the mound to take on Yu Darvish (6-8, 4.65 ERA). First pitch is at 5:05 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Cano's clutch homer ends Ranger rally in victory

Arlington - The Texas Rangers rallied to tie the game late in the eighth inning, but Robinson Cano had other plans for the evening driving a two run homer in the ninth inning that sealed the win for the Mariners. Hisashi Iwakuma was sharp through seven, but things fell apart then, and Steve Cishek couldn't hang on as Texas tied it, but Edwin Diaz was able to lock it down after Cano's homer to preserve the win. The two teams will finish off the series tomorrow night at 5:05 pm.

Re: 40 Year Old Virgins - Mariners Franchise

Mariners get sweep over Rangers behind Miranda's dominant start

Arlington - Ariel Miranda threw 6.1 shut out innings, and Mark Rzepcyznski came on to close down the remainder of the contest, as the Mariners got a 7-0 win to sweep the Texas Rangers in Arlington. The offense was spread throughout the line up with five different players collecting the five RBI for Seattle. Kyle Seager added home run number 37 to his total for the year, and Jean Segura continued his hot hitting with an RBI. Seattle will now hit the road for a four game weekend series in Kansas City. It starts tomorrow evening when Yovani Gallardo (8-6, 3.63 ERA) faces off with Travis Wood (12-5, 5.32 ERA). First pitch is at 5:15 pm.
