All This 2k11 Crying And Complaining...

Posted 10-31-2010 at 08:07 PM by tomzenns
I don't get it.
Seriously, put the game on Sim/All-Star, kill the clutch sliders, and turn clutch off in the gameplay setting and JUST PLAY THE EFFING GAME.

So what if a team takes 110 shots a game...sometimes that happens.
The Miami Heat scored 9 points in the first qtr of their first game...sometimes that happens.
The Orlando Magic shot something like 67% in the first half against the Wizards...sometimes that happens. Its not the end of the world if a team, gets to 90 points at the end of the third qtr, they will prolly end up with around 120 points at the end of the game...THAT HAPPENS SOMETIMES. How do you think the NJ Nets felt last year? They didn't tweak sliders, because, SOMETIMES THAT HAPPENS.

I'm so sick of people whining about having to tweak sliders because they are losing. GET BETTER AT THE GAME. Maybe you are losing because you have 29 turnovers, and not because the game is "broken". For poo's sake how hard is it to use icon passing and get closer to your players for passes...be disciplined!

And all these "Sim"" leagues with two pages of rules...LAME!
Seriously, play to win the game, not to adhere to a ton of rules that prevent you from a good game flow. "how many points in the paint do I have?" "Did i take too many pump fakes?" Give me a break. PLAY THE GAME.

I'll admit, I have done my share of "crying" in the past, but then I cut the poo, got down to it, and got over it. I started slow with the Heat in my association, hardly making any threes, I wanted to change up the sliders so bad...but held off. I went into practice modes, worked on my release timing, figured out what players shoot best where on the floor, and there you have it...now I have moved from last in the league in 3's, to 17th...still not the best...but I got better. I didn't need to dumb the game down.

It can happen.

I agree with you as far as the complaining and crying goes. However, I like to play competitive and realistic basketball. And if tweaking sliders will do so, then I'm cool with it. Sometimes things happen, but it should really happen more so if the opportunity presents itself. A 7'1" PF/C has no business taking a 3pt shot if that's not even there style of play. Other than that, I agree with u.

EXCELLENT POST!!! I have come across a few leagues that have all these rules n stuff.. and i feel just like you...Just Play the Game!!! @ cmehustle... i totally agree... prior 2k games you have people just doing anything.. this years game... i noticed that the more you run plays the less your turnovers are. If people are dedicated to the game like they say they are... then get in your teams playbook. oh yeah.. another thing i hate is fantasy draft. Just play the game man!!!

@elementz09 - I agree, tweaking sliders to get it more realistic is cool...I just personally think that Sim/All-Star produces dynamic realistic results. For me, its pretty perfect, but hey...everyone is different.

Except for the online ranked game bit tho ... those little kids take Miami .. and cherry pick all game. They good ones gamble on the 2-3 four man defense ... for the cherry pick all game. And with 3's not being a cake walk .... it's not looking good for online games. Offline .. or with your boys who really play ball tho .. beautiful game.

I'll give 2k props for trying to make it real for those who want to play it that way .. side effect tho is that it is extremely unreal ... for those who want to abuse it. I'll take that any day tho. These kids will spend hours trying to figure out ways to beat the program. Pick Miami - put Help Defense all the way up. Play 2-3. Or sometimes guard the player who shoots 3's .. cherry pick on the miss for the perfect pass alll game .. you got at least a 70% win percentage - easy. When you master it .. 80% - 90%.
Just reporting on what I see them doing ... Only reason players don't do this in real life is its not how the game should be played. Cause the heat could probably just keep 4 men on D and have Wade chill under the rim .. think about it ... lol. Take away 30 million who paid to watch you play .. leave only 2 people in front of tv screens worlds apart ... you'll have Wade chillin under that rim allll day. 2k gave us the benefit of the doubt for sim on this one. I can dig it.

I don't get it. Why would you make this post.

Most of the complaints are coming from people who play online. Your solution is great if you only play with yourself, avoid human competition and stay in your own little 2k world you created for yourself.

Your solution does nothing for those who play ranked online games. Genius.

Just like most of the comments. They are referring to the game in offline mode.

"how many points in the paint do I have?"

You have never looked at a shot chart of an NBA game. Have you. If you did you would no why they limit the points in the paint in sim leagues. It's not a problem for me because I rarely score 30% of my points in the paint. Like real nba teams do.

2k does not represent a true sim when it comes to how NBA teams shots are spread out during a game. I would love for someone who plays on the side view to take a look at their shot chart after each quarter. They would see most of their shots are taken from the closest side during that quarter. You can be competitive shooting mainly on one side of the court in 2k. Have you ever seen that in the NBA.

Go take a look at the shot chart of a real NBA game and then take a look at yours.

I'm willing to bet they look nothing alike.

A great night for an NBA team in the paint is scoring 40% of their points in the paint. 50% Would mean someone like Shaq had 40.

The movement. Bump. Is not in the nba. I have the NBA ticket. I never see two guys bumping for two seconds trying to get their bodies under control and a foul not being called. I see guys make a move and either they go by their guy or they continue to dribble in the direction they made the move. They don't bump and reset to do it all over again.

In 2k8 I didn't have to wait for an animation to finish to gain some type of control of my player.

Online your playing on ice skates. You might like it but I stopped playing NBA live because of the ice skating.

Their was a time when 2k had the dribbling mechanic down pack. It's been downhill every year after 2k8. You have less and less control.

If your new to the series then you might be happy coming from LIVE.

But for someone who has played over 20,000 games of 2k, been ranked in the top 10-150 every year since the original.

Someone who has one multiple tournaments and leagues. Far as online ranked games. This 2k ranks in the bottom 5. It's barely better than 2k9.

The animations are too long and canned. Same problem with 2k9.
It almost forces you to not move your stick so much so the animations can do their thing. If the animations weren't so slow you can have more control. In a few of my offline leagues they have moved the speed of the game up to 60.

Once you do that you feel like you have more control.

It's a good game offline if your playing with custom settings but when your playing ranked online games it sucks.

2k hasn't helped. When the game came out you couldn't complete full court passes. Now they are back.

I'm not giving up on the game because it usually takes 2k two patches before they get the right balance.

But if people don't complain then nothing will get fixed.

Cheer leading in this situation doesn't help.

See the NBA live series.

CHuuuuuuurrrrch! Excellent post! Especially the "Sim-Rules"...ridiculous...Teams play the game to win! Your job is to stop them....even in the NFL, why do you think the Wild-Cat is popular? Goodell doesn't say, HEY, You can't do that, its not fair! lol

Nice post!

@BlackRome - This isn't a post...its my own personal blog. There is nothing wrong with the game play in this game. 2k put Sim mode in for the purpose to make it like the real NBA...and it is. I saw a quote somewhere on here one time that I think sums it up, it went something like this...

80's & 90's Gamer- "Oh man, that game was so hard but I finally beat that last boss after try after try...that was awesome!

2000's Gamer- "Oh man, this game sucks and is broken because I can;t beat it, when does the patch come out?"

NBA Live has all around flaws, the game play is weak and the franchise mode is babbage. 2k11 has flaws, but not in either of those areas. All I'm saying is, all these people complain on how they can;t win and its too hard so they dumb it down, then they complain that its too easy. If I can win on Sim/All-Star, then so can somebody else.

I don't play on the side Broadcast view, I play on Drive Cam, so it looks like I am actually on the court. And my shot charts look pretty good. I play for real. If the Boston Celtics can get 100 points in the paint with mis-matches, they will exploit it. They don;t try and make sure they only score "X" amount of points in the paint...you play to win the game.

PLAYING ONLINE IS NOT SIM. People cheese and cheat all game...how is that sim? I don't play online for those exact reasons. When I want "competition" from other people in a basketball game, I put on my sneakers and go out to open Gym and play REAL basketball.

That quote you referenced is definitely the most accurate description of this generations gamer vs old school gamers. People have been saying it, but dont want to admit it, Young gamers are too spoiled.
