Calais Campbell retires as a Falcon

Some will remember him as a freak prospect coming to the league from Miami as a second round selection from Arizona.
Others, may remember him as a pivotal force of one of the most prolific defense in recent years as part of the "Sacksonville".
But for all, Calais Campbell football life is the mark of a constant and dominant presence at the line of scrimmage.

His last year in Georgia was no exception. Campbell earned a Pro Bowl selection (his 7th) and posted game winning plays against Washington and Detroit.
"He was the perfect definition of what you call an impact player and will be missed. We wish him the best in his new life." commented Coach Mac.

Re: Madden 24 Online CFM - 10YF Falcons (PS5)

Does he worth $25M a year ?

While preparing the draft board and exploring all options, one question has been raised in Atlanta.

Desmond has 2 years left on his rookie contract, gven his progression and according to league rules he should be in the range of a minimum $25M by the end of 2025 season.

The question already raised in Georgia is whether or not he will deserves such extension... asking the question is a way to give an answer especially ahead of a draft filled with talent at signal caller position.

Note on league rules:

Quote:
The #1 QB on your roster MUST get a minimum of $20 Million regardless of his OVR (ex. If your QB retires, you MUST pay the 66 OVR QB who is your highest rated/scheduled starter at least $20 Million minimum when you negotiate his next contract.)

Tier 1 QBs: 75 OVR and above - $25 Million minimum annually
Tier 2 QBs: 70-74 OVR - $20 Million minimum annually
Tier 3 QBs: 65-69 OVR - $8 Million minimum annually
Tier 4 QBs: 61-64 OVR and Below - $5 Million minimum annually
Tier 5 QBs: 60 OVR and Below - No annual Minimum

2024 Early Free Agency update

In the early hours of This Free Agency the Falcons confirmed the addition of few not so unfamiliar faces to the roster.

First, after a season in DC, LB Mykal Walker is back in Atlanta for 2 seasons.

Then, Coach Mac obviously decided to limit the risk of unknown reuniting with three of his former players.

D.J. Chark and Laviska Shenault agreed to terms with Atlanta addressing the most obvious need in the Falcons roster.

Chark is expected to pair with Drake London wide while Shenault is expected to bring his usual versatility and compete with Callaway for the slot position.
It was said that Chark was mac absolute priority when he became an unrestricted free agent.

Chark used to be the number one target for multiple years in Coach Mac's offence in Jacksonville and will now need to get comfortable being a 3rd option in a very different scheme.

Mac as well decided to offer a 4 years contract to C.J. Henderson. Henderson has rare raw talent but struggled to establish himself as a pro already joining his 3rd 10YF team in a 4 years career.
Falcons are reuniting Henderson with Jeff Okudah. Both were regarded as two of the highest prospects of the 2020 NFL draft being drafted 9th and 3rd respectively.

Secondary & depth priority of Free Agency day 2

The Falcons addressed their need of depth and talent at safety.

First, Atlanta confirmed the signature of former Jets safety Ashtyn Davis. Initially a 3rd round selection from new York in 2020, Davis played 14 games for the Jets in 2023 posting 43 tackles with a sack and an interception returned for TD.

The Falcons as well confirmed the signature of Markquese Bell a linebacker converted to safety who joined the Dallas Cowboys as undrafted free agent.

2024 10YF Draft

The Falcons entered the draft with no massive needs mostly looking to bring some youth and talent to DL and OT.
We had the 15th overall rank with extra picks in 2nd round from Jacksonville and 6th from Cleveland, and we did no pick in the 7th round.

R-Jenkins

Pick 1.15: Kris Jenkins, DL, Michigan
Height: 6'3
Weight: 305
Dev: Normal

Living up to the family legacy of his father (also Kris, a former NFL star) will be a challenge, but the younger Jenkins is a different style of player who appears well suited to play in a number of fronts and attacking the backfield. His run defense might be a concern and limit his play time at least as a rookie.

Grade: C-

Sawyer

Pick 2.9: Jack Sawyer, Edge, Ohio State
Height: 6'4
Weight: 250
Dev: Hidden

Once considered to be a top-10 overall recruit in the country before enrolling at Ohio State. As a member of the Buckeyes defensive line, you have seen some of the flashes that made Sawyer such a hot commodity prior to entering college. He is a great athlete with obvious edge rushing threat potential.

Grade: B+

R-Morgan

Pick 2.15: Jordan Morgan, T, Arizona
Height: 6'6
Weight: 328
Dev: Normal

Morgan has a prototypical build, would appear to have some positional flexibility, and offers a strong mix of power and mobility. It is not that he look really bad it is just that there was better to do with that pick.

Grade: D

R-Jacobs

Pick 3.15: Curtis Jacobs, LB, Penn State
Height: 6'1
Weight: 238
Dev: Normal

Combines very good instincts with above-average reaction skills. Along with great instincts, he’s an explosive mover. Best attribute. Extreme quickness off the edge, has the flexibility to turn the corner. Fairly good potential as a coverage LB he’s going to have to add weight, and even then Jacobs will likely be a liability against the run.

Grade: C+

R-Silver

Pick 4.15: Keshawn Silver, DL, Kentucky
Height: 6'6
Weight: 295
Dev: Normal

One of the most, if not the most, athletic DT in this draft, Silver possesses an outstanding foot quickness and hustle to chase plays downfield or to the sideline.
Silver tends to let blockers get into his chest, and he’ll waste time hand fighting due to a limited array of pass rush moves and he looks limited to passing downs duties due to his lack of instinct to shade the blocks.

Grade: D-

R-Guyton

Pick 5.15: Tyler Guyton, T, Oklahoma
Height: 6'7
Weight: 327
Dev: Hidden

Guyton is a work in progress with high-end physical traits. A smooth mover and covers a lot of ground, working hard to mirror rushers; agile and keeps his feet moving. He looks like a starter potential and a steal at this stage of the draft.

Grade: A

R-Williams

Pick 6.5: Mario Williams, WR, USC
Height: 5'9
Weight: 186
Dev: Normal

A prototype for a slot, Williams shows good initial quickness off the line of scrimmage with coordinated hands catching skills. His playing speed is less than elite. Williams won’t run past defenders like he did at the college level and need to develop his route running to make the necessary sharp cuts to create separation underneath.

Grade: C

R-Wright

Pick 6.15: Jaylen Wright, RB, Tennessee
Height: 5'11
Weight: 205
Dev: Normal

An athlete who impressed at the combine mostly in 3 cone and 20 yards shuttle drills. He is a natural playmaker, at his best with the ball in his hands. He has a slight build, especially for a running back, and Wright isn’t going to grind out yardage between the tackles but may emerge as natural replacement for Cordarelle Patterson as returner specialist.

Grade: B-

Re: Madden 24 Online CFM - 10YF Falcons (PS5)

Falcons Xs and Os Update

Continuity is the key word for Falcons offense.
The QB room has been unchanged post draft which is a confidence vote for Desmond Rider. Under the same system with the same terminology he will need to show that he deserve an extension.

On defense the fundamentals of the scheme are not changed but some adjustements have been made to take into account the experience from last season.
Falcons are expected to get closer to a pure Gus Bradley scheme even using its terminology and approach in term of fronts and gap controls.
"At the end of the day, as far as defense is concerned, Coach Mac defense has been a copycat of Gus Bradley core system".

Falcons sign Singletary

The Falcons confirmed the addition of Devin Singletary to their roster. Initially a 3rd round selection from the Bills, Singletary spent last season in Houston after 3 years in Buffalo. He is added to an already talented backfield, sources indicate that his natural instinct as a runner and pass protection made him a valid addition.
