Re: HRNolin96's Georgia State Panthers | A NCAA 14 Dynasty
Week 1: FCS Southeast at Georgia State Thursday, August 29 Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia The FBS Era for Georgia State Starts with a Shutout of FCS Southeast tumblr_3bb970505e12590874951cc232987f00_cbb1b0cc_540.jpg Coming into the season, no one gave the Georgia State Panthers much of a thought. The preseason polls had the team at #126, the last team in the polls. Even though the team couldn’t compete for the conference or attend any bowls due to the season being a transitional year, Georgia State was projected last in the Sun Belt Conference. Most preseason projections had them only winning a game or two and some even had them going winless this season. However, Georgia State showed true potential in their game today, shutting out their opponent, led by rookie head coach Patrick Cross. Yes, their opponent was a FCS opponent and Georgia State, being a FBS member, should easily beat them. However, remember that this is Georgia State’s first year and first game at the FBS level and their talent is honestly at the FCS level. Some projections even had the FCS opponent winning. The fact Georgia State shut them out and won by 31 is impressive, no matter how you look at it. FCS Southeast got the opening kickoff and had a pretty good opening drive, getting across the 50 yard line. However, they didn’t get any points for the effort after missing a field goal and they didn’t get past the 50 again in any of their other drives. The story was completely different for Georgia State. FB Anthony Hudgins scored the first touchdown for the team at the FBS level on a 1 yard run on their opening drive. The Panthers scored points on every 1st half drive, three touchdowns and a field goal right before the half ended. The second half was much less eventful. FCS Southeast still couldn’t get anything going, either on the ground or through the air. Georgia State also started to run the clock much more, being up by 24. Some of their drives even stalled in the second half and they punted once or twice. The third quarter went scoreless and the only points scored in the second half was a WR Danny Williams receiving touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, taking Georgia State up by 31 which ended up being the final score. tumblr_d4435b800b594acb8ae5fc6f7a06978d_6cfc755a_540.jpg FB Anthony Hudgins scores Georgia State’s first FBS touchdown on a 1-yard-run. tumblr_0b2b0a209ad62c3e30e0ac0d748a77c0_b543bb0b_540.jpg Despite being a runningback, Howse catching a screen pass and scoring Georgia State’s first receiving touchdown at the FBS level. tumblr_13839d8d34ca87c1ad223dae410e8814_987594f3_540.jpg Another touchdown for Howse, this time a running one, right before half. tumblr_2e33034ff8071904ed5e146549a1a0a1_72a5784c_540.jpg Also right before half, Morris getting the ball thrown right to him, resulting in Georgia State’s first FBS interception. It would lead to a 27 yard Will Lutz field goal as the half ended. Georgia State faces off against FCS East next week. Let’s see if this game was a fluke or if the Panthers can replicate this performance again and show the world they belong in the FBS. |

Week 2: FCS East at Georgia State Saturday, September 7 Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia Another Win, but Last Game Might've Been a Fluke tumblr_8885045c3fcae8848e57c4049da7c96e_6c0e0c0e_540.jpg The game started out a lot like the first game. FCS East received the opening kickoff and had a decent opening drive, getting a few first downs and getting across the 50 yard line. However, they didn’t get any points for the effort, missing a long field goal. Unlike the previous game though, Georgia State couldn’t do anything on their opening drive, stalling after getting sacked on a third and short. In fact, there was almost no action in the first quarter, going scoreless. The only things worth noting was FCS East missing two long field goals in the quarter, missing another field goal early on in the second quarter. The second quarter was more of the same, but Georgia State finally put together a drive. They had the ball most of the second quarter and finished it with a Ronnie Bell sneak for a touchdown right before the half ended. The second started off with a bang, a 45 yard reception by Blair on the first play of the half. The Panthers couldn’t get a touchdown though and had to settle for a field goal after FCS East had a goal line stand. During FCS East’s next drive, Georgia State was able to get a touchdown, as Morris picked off a screen and returned it in for a touchdown. FCS East’s next drive showed that they weren’t quite out of it yet. They moved the ball down the field like they did during their earlier drives and capped it off with a touchdown. It was also the first points Georgia State’s defense gave up all season. With a chance to run the clock down, Georgia State went three and out, leaving FCS East another chance to get really get back into the game. Their next drive was somewhat of a success, they were driving down the field and was in Georgia State’s territory, with a good chance to at least get a field goal if not a touchdown to make it a one score game. However, during a quarterback run, a hard hit on the quarterback knocked the ball loose and Georgia State recovered. Even after the turnover, Georgia State was again not able to do much, only getting one first down before having to punt it, leaving FCS East plenty of time for another chance to get back into the game. Which they did, driving down the field and scoring a touchdown with under a minute left. The onside kick was unsuccessful though and the Panthers were able to kneel it from there, securing an ugly win. tumblr_9ef76b4ba13b74286e1d36780f1f79aa_e48bd639_540.jpg After a uneventful first half, Blair makes a 45 yard reception on the first play of the second half. A 18 yard field goal by Lutz followed a few plays later. tumblr_2e7921608fbe0786af4cfa0dfbd1e868_2dab45b2_540.jpg Morris returns an interception for a pick six, Georgia State’s first defensive touchdown at the FBS level. It also ended up being the difference maker in the final score of the game. tumblr_ee06e7e1ac53866e90437f24d3f6ddc6_95c3a70c_540.jpg An early fourth quarter touchdown run by FCS East’s showed they weren’t quite out of the game yet. It also was the first points Georgia State gave up all season. tumblr_a56b2006e0d17a1947054a0ebba863da_9f2bb234_540.jpg While driving down the field, FCS East fumbles the ball during a quarterback run and the Panthers recovered. Georgia State moves to 2 and 0 on the season, but will most likely earn their first loss next week as they travel to Morgantown to face off against West Virginia. West Virginia is 1 and 1 on the season, but is coming off a big win against previously ranked Oklahoma, 24-7. Last edited by HRNolin96; 12-25-2023 at 10:34 PM. |

Week 3: Georgia State at West Virginia Saturday, September 14 Mountaineer Field at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia Closer Than Everyone Thought While Not Being Close At All tumblr_cf12e471f76f9256ccdc8d8466766119_8d216945_540.jpg The Mountaineers didn’t start the game off well. After receiving the opening kickoff, the very first play of the game, West Virginia’s Millard was picked off by Georgia State’s Singleton which was returned for a touchdown. The next drive wasn’t any better, a three and out after two sacks and a dropped pass. After a three and out by Georgia State, West Virginia was finally able to put a drive together, but it was ending suddenly by another interception. However, after another three and out by Georgia State, West Virginia finally put points on the scoreboard. A few plays into their drive, a screen pass from Millard to Sims was returned 77 yards for a touchdown. After yet another three and out by Georgia State, West Virginia passed for another touchdown late in the first quarter. The second quarter started with Georgia State finally getting a first down after going for it on a fourth and short in their own territory. A few plays later, quarterback Ronnie Bell had a huge run for 28 yards after not being able to find anyone open to get the Panthers deep into West Virginia’s territory. Georgia State wasn’t able to find the endzone and had to settle for a Will Lutz field goal. West Virginia answered quickly with a 69 yard touchdown pass. Georgia State added another field goal to end the half. A long drive by Georgia State to start the second half didn’t result in any points as Lutz missed a long field goal after West Virginia read the quarterback draw perfectly and stopped Bell for a 5 yard loss on a third and short. West Virginia threw another pick on their drive, this time to Demarius Matthews, their third pick of the day. Georgia State was able to move down the field and get a field goal, but West Virginia answered with another passing touchdown, this time a 15 yard one, after a 55 yard screen pass that set them up deep in Georgia State’s territory. That would ultimately be the final points scored on the day as Georgia State, while driving down the field and looking to cut it to a one score game, fumbled the ball deep in West Virginia’s territory which the Mountaineers recovered and with under a minute left and the Panthers only having one timeout, they were able to kneel it to end it. tumblr_1bcb9052773707c21c6662443c1b1d52_6f290d42_540.jpg Kail Singleton picking the ball off on the first play of the game. It would be returned for a pick six. tumblr_279f12125cd2aa79edf16d7f8507a0bd_df2acb46_540.jpg Another first quarter interception by Georgia State, this time by free safety Rashad Stewart. tumblr_a9bac71638c041b9140adcbecbd5f56c_29bca98c_540.jpg West Virginia’s first touchdown, a 77 yard screen pass touchdown. tumblr_5a04956b7ffc81c7d3dadfd52fee5091_dce082b6_540.jpg Georgia State’s first turnover of the season came at the worst time as this Howse fumble ended the game. Despite the final score, this game didn’t feel incredibly close. Aside from the three interceptions by Georgia State, one of which was returned for their only touchdown of the game, they weren’t able to do much. Their leading rusher was quarterback Ronnie Bell with only 39 yards, 28 of those yards coming from one run. Bell did throw for over 200 yards, 116 of those yards coming from wide receiver Danny Williams. It seems like the strength of this Panthers team early on in the season is their passing game. Both of these teams move to 2-1 on the year. Georgia State returns home to Atlanta next week to face off against FCS Midwest. They will also have a visiting recruit, their first of the season, 1 star CB Adam Harrington from Union City, Georgia. West Virginia will travel to Maryland to face off against the 2-1 Terrapins. |

Re: HRNolin96's Georgia State Panthers | A NCAA 14 Dynasty
Week 4: FCS Midwest at Georgia State Saturday, September 21 Georgia Dome in Atlanta, Georgia Georgia State Falls Short After a Slow First Half FCS MW - 17 | 3 | 0 | 3 (23) GA St - 0 | 0 | 7 | 13 (20) The first score of the game came fast. After receiving the opening kickoff, FCS Midwest scored a touchdown in only 50 seconds, after Georgia State missed a tackle and the running back was able to take it in for a score. After a three and out by the Panthers, including a 4 yard loss on a run and then a 8 yard loss on a sack, FCS Midwest had great field position, but Georgia State’s defense was able to pull a three and out themselves and held FCS Midwest to a field goal. After yet another three and out from the home team, FCS Midwest had the ball again and was driving down the field, but strong safety Kail Singleton picked the ball off, stopping the drive. However, Georgia State had another three and out and had to punt the ball again after a false start stopped them from going for it on fourth and short. The first quarter ended with another FCS Midwest touchdown. There wasn’t much of note in the second quarter. A long drive by Georgia State took up most of the quarter, but the Panthers had nothing to show for it as Lutz’s field goal attempt came up short. The Panthers was able to stop FCS Midwest’s drive and get the ball back with just under a minute left in the half with all their timeouts. A few plays later, on third down, quarterback Bell threw an interception on a wild pass, giving FCS Midwest great field position. The interception resulted in a field goal. On the following kickoff, returner Albert Wilson took it 64 yards into FCS Midwest’s territory with 9 seconds left. Once again, Georgia State had nothing to show for it as Lutz missed a 46 yard field goal attempt to end the half. Georgia State had the ball most of the third quarter. A couple of third down conversions and even one or two fourth down conversions helped the Panthers run the clock down most of the quarter. It resulted in their first points of the game, a touchdown rush from quarterback Ronnie Bell. FCS Midwest opened up the fourth quarter with a field goal, going up by 16. The Panthers responded with another touchdown, this time a run from runningback Travis Evans. Georgia State went for two to knock it down to an eight point game and one score game, but the attempt was unsuccessful. Georgia State was able to pick off the ball again on FCS Midwest’s next drive, giving the Panthers another chance to get back into the game. A few plays later, Howse took it in for a short touchdown run, with the field goal afterwards, the game was down to 3 points with 1:45 left on the clock. Having all timeouts left, Georgia State made the decision to kick it deep and attempt to stop FCS Midwest. Georgia State was successful and stopped FCS Midwest, but after a sack on third down with under 20 seconds left and no timeouts, the Panthers rushed the fourth down play and miscommunicated, the receiver kept running down the field while Bell thought the receiver was going to run towards the sideline. The ball fell to the ground and FCS Midwest knelt it once to end the game. tumblr_bda547e4d466a7ac508ca47d005242f1_f87e5951_540.jpg SS Singleton picks the ball off, surely saving Georgia State from another score from FCS Midwest. tumblr_9ea5a50c3a0384df835771cc07125c91_06c33cd1_540.jpg FCS Midwest breaks a few tackles to take it in for another touchdown to end the first quarter. tumblr_f3ad0de31ec6f587e1a9d4d64ac0c84a_375c7534_540.jpg Returner Albert Wilson took the kickoff 64 yards, but Lutz missed a 46 yard field goal attempt to end the half. tumblr_c34c727f3b72007a5078c7b1f380a231_2da62a1c_540.jpg A touchdown run from Bell, finally putting points on the board for the home team, late in the third quarter. tumblr_078501fd68c374554efdc5f911274a55_7d9ab7b0_540.jpg Evans flipping into the endzone for a touchdown. The 2 point attempt was unsuccessful. Georgia State falls to 2-2 on the year. They have next week off; their next game is in week 6. They’ll be traveling to Tuscaloosa to face off against undefeated #1 Alabama. Expect another loss for Georgia State. If the Panthers somehow upset the Tide, it’ll go down as one of the biggest upsets in college football history.
